Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That's what happens when you play 4CBs at the back.

    What was he doing?

Brilliant refereeing. So often we see those not given. Algeria not the pushovers many expected them to be.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35,514 ✭✭✭✭efb

    Silly from the Belgian

Vertonghen is a mong. One of the most overrated footballers around.

Well it's a kick up the arse to a team who have been painfully pedestrian.

    Stone wall pen.

Belgium been abysmal so far. Totally flat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,293 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Stupid from Vertonghen, Belgians very underwhelming so far.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 473 ✭✭DildoFaggins

Can see Miralles and Metens coming on in the 2nd half if Belgium don't pick it up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

That should at least give this game the kick up the arse it needed.

The way Belgian have been going I think they might not even notice that they are 1 down.

They're ranked 22nd in the world. I don't know why most expected them to be pushovers.

This Belgian team as a whole are overrated.

    Fellaini on the bench?

    :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

I'm not watching so the commentator may well has already said this, but that's the first Algerian goal in a WC finals for a long while, I believe.

    :pac:

Yep, hence why they're 1-0 down.

The Algerian centre half just dribbled the ball about 30 yards upfield unopposed. This is shocking so far from the Belgian team.

Jesus Belgium are shocking so far...

    Very stiff from the Belgians.

    De bruyne having a mare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,405 ✭✭✭Lukker-

De Bruyne should be taken off for Mirallas at HT.

You should never depend on the Belgians.

OOF - Horror freekick and then moaning at the teammates. Not exactly a good sign.

Seems like a primadona, like a few of the Belgians.

Not too impressed by the Belgians. Algeria putting in a big effort defending.

I'd read virtually nothing into the rankings, but they're certainly a better side than most gave them credit for.

Who was that standing statue still waiting for the ball to come to them when the Algerian nipped in to intercept?

    Shocking stuff

Bit of fighting by the spurs players :pac:

A lot of this team had no club form, the 3 Spurs guys definitely.

Algeria are certainly a frustrating team to play against but no quality being shown by Belgium so far - Algeria making them look horribly over-rated.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35,514 ✭✭✭✭efb

Will Algeria park the Camel train now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Belgians have no width. That's what happens when you have two centre backs crowbarred into playing full back.

The build play has been way too slow. Game needs Mertens or Mirallas, someone who's more direct. De bruyne has been awful.

They really are hampered by their fullbacks. It's mad that they have so many CBs and no FBs.

Chadli shouldn't be playing either - Januzaj, Mirallas and Mertens are all better.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,292 ✭✭✭GreNoLi

    Football to De Groin.

Thankfully the bookies don't read much into them either.

Still expect Belgium to improve a bit.

    Mertens badly needed.

And it shows you how important good full backs are.

    It's a crippling weakness.

Kevin De Bruyne having a stinker. Belgium look very poor
