Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was that just a total mis kick there or did the Algerian catch him?

Looked like the Algerian defender stuck his leg in front of the ball and Alderweireld just kicked him and fell.

Belgians have no width. That's what happens when you have two centre backs crowbarred into playing full back.

The build play has been way too slow. Game needs Mertens or Mirallas, someone who's more direct. De bruyne has been awful.

Vertonghen was class the season before last and the start of last season when pressed into action as an attacking full back.

The problem isn't him being a centre back, it's that he's way off form.

The lads at half-time should be fun commenting on this.

It's hardly racist to suggest Africans might ride on a camel.

Very little imagination from the Belgians up front.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 473 ✭✭DildoFaggins

I'd leave it as is and if they don't improve by the 55th minute bring on Mertens for De Bruyne.

Good play now with Hazard and Chadli

I don't think Algeria will be able to keep up this intensity.

    How is that racist?

Lukakau Hazard De Bruyne Witsel Chadli Dembele...You'd think with that sort of Talent they could string five or six passes together in the opposition half...That said every time they give the ball to De Bruyne it reminds me of passing to useless fella when you were kids cause you felt sorry for him.

Who was the Algerian fella that played LB for Porthsmouth with the silly hair? Belhadji or something?

Januzaj to come on and set up or score the equalizer.

Sorry I cashed out on Algeria now.

    They might actually win this.

    Hipster football in crisis.

Not so much dark horses as damp squids

    65% Ball Possession 35%
    8 Goal Attempts 2
    4 Shots on Goal 1
    4 Shots off Goal 1

Are you kidding me? Belgium couldn't be more mainstream.

They need to get Hazard on the ball further up the pitch, the main problem is they have no deep lying play maker so they can't get past the centre of the pitch.

Pletikosa will be feeling better at least.

He has a competitor for most embarrassing individual performance at this World Cup.

    De Bruyne....jesus wept.

Now yes, esp for football gods such as yourself but 18 months ago you couldn't buy shares in young Belgium talent quick enough.

    Lukuku?

Knew this game wasn't going well for Belgium once the commentator used the phrase "Golden Generation".

Poor De Bruyne, a chap like him doesn't belong in a South American Summer.

What in the name is Jesus is the point of having a striker like Lukaku and not putting balls into the box for him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭thelad95

The way Belgium are playing is like a Man United performance under Moyes. One dimensional and little creativity.

Thank you, it's simply a matter of identifying holes in their squad, watching them play and acknowledging that they've been hoisted to such a lofty position in the minds of football fans based on the hype around the players, much of which comes from so many of them playing in the Premier League. I wouldn't have touched Belgium in the bookies with a stick.

Croatia and Columbia have been my dark horses.

Am gonna stick my neck on the line and say Mexico will pull off a shock and send Croatia home.

Columbia should be good for the 1/4 finals.

    Mertens on - Chadli off.

How is de Brunye still on the pitch.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

    Good switch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,369 ✭✭✭UnitedIrishman

Mertens will add a bit more than Chadli but unless they chance something at full back and in center midfield then it won't make a difference who is on the wings.
