    Nice VW.
I never saw the year and make put on the plates like that before.
Nice touch leaving the UK plate on rear shelf.

Ya. I just got talking to the owner when someone he knew came over to talk to him so I never got to find out any more. He's local so might get to talk to him again

My late father was a huge Beetle enthusiast. He did a lovely restoration job on one just before he died. I'll see if I can root out a few pics of it. My mother sold it soon after he died as there were too many bad memories.

I'm really starting to come around to MB 190s!

Maybe it's the daily commute in the classic. Are they good for a daily driver? What kind of issues are "avoid"? NCT pinch points?

While I do like the standard model, I would go for the slightly spicier look with some BBS alloys or similar.

This looks tasty, if a little 'young'.

Merc spotted in Cornelscourt - I didn't see the reg plate, but it was definitely a diesel - I think these were US market only.
The Roller (or maybe a Bentley) was in Enniskerry

    Looks like US bumpers anyway.

Not just any Granada but a Coleman Milne Minster.
With a German reg. must be as rare as hen's teeth.

^ I've heard of Coleman Milne before (not for a long time though) - what would they have done above and beyond the standard Granada?
Would it be just extra interior refinements, or would they also have added armour plating etc?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,219 ✭✭✭✭Nekarsulm

I think they added about a foot or 18 inches in lenght. Back doors are longer, probably have flip down rear facing seats for 2 extra passengers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭tc20

^ ahhh...looking again, those rear doors do look to be longer than standard. Cheers!

I might be wrong but I think that Merc is a USA version and has been up on the for sale sites a few times in the last years. If it is the one I think it is, its a turbo diesel!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,391 ✭✭✭jozi

I couldn't get a pic of it and not sure what it was other than that it was a E class merc etstate, late 80's I'm guessing, foreign reg and it was diesel from memory and what I could see it said 5.0 DED or something? 5L diesel lump?

I was so surprised that I managed to post the link that I didn’t include any background,.... we were going to a motor event up north on Sat and stopped for breakfast at the service area on the north side , near Lusk I think, came across these lads heading to a show at the Maze.
Turned out to be a mostly Wicklow based club and we knew a couple of them, I’m still kicking myself that I forgot to take a pic of the Beetle with the Rover V8 sticking out of the engine bay!!
