    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    I'd say he can't wait for 2020.😀

In fairness to the owner, it's taxed and tested. I'd say a TCD professor.

    Bray/Greystones recently.

I had to search the reg of the Austin to find out what it was (in use as a wedding car on the day)
The Merc is a regular driver, fairly late model (I think the R129 came in around 1990/91)

Greystones over the last few days.

Why 3 photos of the same car - I just happen to think the DS is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Granted, my photography skills are doing it no favours, and from certain angles it may be an ugly duckling...but I would have loved to have been around in 1955 when this was launched - it must have so far out there in terms of looks, design, innovative features..

Nice old Benz. Those rear arches are always the first to go.
Awakened my 123 from an 18 month slumber yesterday.
Shamefully, 14 months of that was spent lying outside .....

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭tc20

@ Neckarsulm - what 123 have you yourself?
Had a 280E previously; it was a company car for a chap in England who then took it on as part of his retirement package. Another fellow had it for approx. 9 months in the UK before I got it. Came with a huge folder of receipts from day 1, couple of pics attached

    This is my one , a 230ce.
The amount of green algae was incredible, and there's water in the rear footwells.
Needs a few more washes and a T Cut.
Fuel pump seems very loud as well.

I didn’t know you had a 123 Nekarsulm. What model?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,219 ✭✭✭✭Nekarsulm

    1983 230ce.

Bought it from its second owner when his eyesight deteriorated and he lost his licence.
It was his brother in laws from new.
He was an engineer in the shipyard where they build the nuclear submarines, and had been fastidious with upkeep and record keeping, a real gentleman.

Lidl parking spaces are a decent size. Another reason I like them! :)

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

@ Duke - I wonder what the little badge on the RHS is? I don't recognise it as one of the regular tuning/body styling houses

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

Good observation, I didn’t notice that. I only took a quick photo and didn’t really stop to look. I’ve attached two pics which might give a better idea though

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭tc20

cheers Duke, I'm still none the wiser though :D - looks like a MB specialist (rather than main dealer) tag. An import too obviously, going by the reg no.

    Alanda?

Google shows a MB dealer in Alanda in Jordan.

It's an Alan Day badge - Merc main dealer in Finchley, North London (I've seen this car close up). I used to pass the dealership whenever I went into London, when I lived in Hertfordshire in the 90's, and I used to drool at the new W124's (from my Mk1 Golf), but was disgusted with the new W201's when they appeared.
