I thought ZV plates were for cars 30 years old or older ?

It's not a 1995 car, the Sierra came out in '82, and this one looks like one of the first few years of production.

It could be a later car fitted with the wheel trims and grille from an early car, but it's probably legit.

I have no idea what you mean. I simply asked a basic question, which was 'Are ZV plates only issued to cars that are 30 year's old or older'. The car in question according to the post is 1995. From my little knowledge of Ford Sierras I thought they were produced from the early 80's top the early 90's.
So this one pictured could well be 30 years old, or older.. however as the year on the post states 1995... I was curious, that's all.
No need to get in a spat about worms, or cans for that matter.

I think kaizersoze meant to say 1985, which it is.

Most interesting though is that its a 1.3 L - total poverty spec. Escort engine and all. That car has had its bumpers, grille and fuel filler cap (and some of the towbar!) resprayed red, which looks a bit odd

Talking about odd, a car passed me today that looked like a lime green late 80's elongated very well kept baby Merc.

    I was sober.

    Do you live in Kerry?

If so (or even if not) it was probably this

    Yes and Yes.

Thanks for that, what's the story with it?

I was in deep conversation with a friend at the side of a road and it literally glided past us before we know it was on the way.

Its a 300d as far as I know

It was on Donedeal last year in Kenmare for something like €5k..doubt it sold

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,043 ✭✭✭Rows Grower

Well if it did sell it wasn't too far from Kenmare today.

Never saw it before today and it's a car you'd kind of remember if you did see it.

Is it kind of sad that I'd love to know who the first owner was and how much it cost?

    Typo sorry. 1985

Its just a V124. Plenty about but probably only one in Snot Green!!

300D?? Not sure about that. They only produced those LWB versions in 250D and 260E for the pre facelift.

Pictured it as black originally but your explanation makes more sense than my original film star imaginations.

That car is crying out to be opened up.

Pretty sure its Duffy built and either started life as a 300d or had a 300 dropped in.

I'm guessing that was meant as a joke because you mentioned an issue that regularly has people getting hot under the collar... i.e. dodgy age declaration to get cheap tax.

    weekend sightings..

The Jag is on Irish plates and was fairly moving along the M50/M11 yesterday.
The Manta is a regular sight around north Wicklow, he doesn't hang around either

The Manta belongs to one of the owners from K-Partz Motor factors in Kilcoole.

That C124 230E came in from the Middle East and that's the original owner behind the wheel. Even has a detachable towbar!

Spotted this Matra in colorful Sneem today. Note the matching lunch box on the wall, and Micky Joe's Transit in the background.

Anyone any info on the age of the car?
