Had a 19 supervan as my first car that I still pine for, my sister had a 5 door.
If I recall they used to have a little difficulty with the door locks, we were driving across oconnell bridge in my sisters one when suddenly the passenger door flung open and refused to close so we pulled over and the driver got out to try and close it to no avail but seeing as we were causing an obstruction we decided to hold the door shut until we could pull over somewhere safer only for the driver door to refuse to lock. Que me getting out to try and rescue the situation which left us with 3 stubborn doors.
You know I can't remember what we did to get on the road but all in all I have very fond memories of the old 19's.

A friend of mine in Wexford is mad about them, he has a good few of them.
They're really nice little cars too.

In fairness my one gave me my fair share of problems but for comfort it was great, having said that at 17 comfort wasn't exactly what I was after so my next car was a subaru impreza. I know what I'd go for now tho.

Today in Baltinglass I saw a cream Morris Oxford with what I think was a two lettered Dublin reg. No photo sadly.

No, I only bothered photoing what I liked.

Pretty good mix of stuff actually and a few new cars too, not the usual same old stuff that show up every year

You must have been at a different show to me, imo it was useless. Are you involved with the show

I stuck around and it was good towards the evening.

And I won't even justify that with an answer

Classic motoring at it's most romantic - blue skies, empty roads, snow-capped peaks and full support crew!
I was too slow with the camera to snap the DS and Renault Alpine on the road.

Did anyone go to Durrow today? Totally forgot it was today

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,033 ✭✭✭Silvera

I attended Durrow Show today....it was an excellent show. The autojumble was also the largest I have seen in Ireland to date.

    A few pics...

Not sure if this counts - but today we saw this old Ice Cream van near Wicklow. No idea how old it is but it looked very cool (pun fully intended!)

Just a few of the yokes I saw at Round 1 of the Austrian Histo-Cup at the Red Bull Ring yesterday. Serious day of racing with about 120 cars over 6 classes going door to door and all manner of Historic serie's repesented to make a fan-boy outta me for the day

wow that yellow fiat 127 brought back memories, i had one same colour in 1983 my first car

Perhaps it's just me but does anyone else feel a bit bored at Irish classic car shows? Looking at the photos from the Durrow show there there's hardly a car i'd saw wow to.

That Sunbeam Stiletto does it for me fairly scarce by now I'd imagine.

I think it's just you and your preferences. The Irish classic car show is fine imo.

Run of the mill stuff is pretty boring though it has to be said. I can't understand how some people pay so much money for bland cars like Escorts and Kadetts and similar. I just don't get that really.
