I love spots like this. Obviously, a shame that its rotting in the garden, but I'm always curious as to how cars ended up like this. Whatever the reason for it being brought off the road, the owner must have some sort of attachment to it, if its still here.

Kildare and Windmill - seen an ol' wan going in and out. Maybe the hubby died and she's living in a time warp, or maybe just can't sell it - like my Mercs  They'll end up like that too in years to come

I'd say a lot of people have knocked in about it. Someone would have taken it if it was for sale.

Seems to have done well to hold up as good as it did, its been off the road since at least 93. I bought a Dolomite in a similar state to this a few months ago. 1 owner from new out in Balinteer, 40k on the clock, off the road since 91. When we dragged it out of the garden the passenger side quarter panel literally fell off

    One more

I was at that auction, registered to bid and all. Unfortunately the couple of cars I wanted (the 635csi, the e55 amg, the daimler and one or two others) were either in too bad nick or went above what I expected for the car.

I have to say there was some very nice machines there but I would think that a classic car auction should only have classic cars in it.
Was very tedious having to endure lots of "modern" sh!theaps being auctioned for 700 quid just to see the odd classic.

For anyone that was there from here, I was the guy sitting in the front row with long hair and a Ford Trucks cap. I got talking to a few fellow enthusiasts there, should have asked if they posted on the forum!

What was the 635 like and what did it go for?

Didn't sell as it didnt meet the reserve.
I went with the intention of bidding on it, but it wasnt in the best condition and sounded rough.
As far as I remember there was some rust and the engine sounded like it was a v8 from an american car it was running so rough.

A general rule I have with buying classics at auction is if there is any doubt at all, don't buy.

Ah, cheers. Do you know what the reserve was? I have one and like to keep an eye on the market. :D

There were lots of mercedes SL coupes so I dont remember that one.
There was a nice '84 230 (I think) mercedes that went for only 2500 odd, I would have liked that one but it had the telltale bubbly arches.

I don't suppose they publish a list of sold vehicles and their prices anywhere ??
