Six years of the top rate of CC-based motor tax (it's actually €1,809 per year, rather than €1,750) would cost you €10,854.

    What a joke...

PS: That's if you pay for 12 months at a time - if you pay every three months, the six-year total would be €12,264

I see that out and about regularly. Young enough man at the wheel as well, which is nice to see.

I bought my first one aged 22 near Munich, drove it through the Sahara and sold it in Zinder in Niger. A fully loaded, massively abused 380 SEL. There was a good few quid to be made on them back then, loads of W115, W126, Peugeot 504 and 505s on the way down there.

    Good times indeed.

nice Moggie convertible in Greystones at the weekend, on an original Wicklow plate too - its coming up as a 1966 reg, 1098cc.

''its coming up as a 1966 reg, 1098cc.''

My then girlfriends dad bought a brand new Ford Escort in 1976 or thereabouts and it was less than 200 numbers ahead of this. I'm correct as regards the date as I know I only met her in 1975. I can't believe that there were less than 200 cars registered between 1966 and 1976

Its probably that the car was imported into Ireland in 1976, pre 87 imports on the old reg just received the next available reg for the year they were imported as there was no method of giving them an age related reg.

I will leave you guessing, it was nicknamed The Raincoat. It will fit in a normal doorway.

@Duke O Smiley: That '76 Beetle looks very fresh, but I'd love to have the '77 Beta.
    Excellent spots!

30-odd thousand miles on the clock of the Beta. One family ownership throughout its life, though it has spent more time off the road than on according to the owner; who is a sound sound guy. Anyway, here are a few more pictures of it on my phone. Quality isn't great, but its not something I was expecting to stumble across at all. Especially not at Lidl.

That Lancia really is pretty, love Italian cars from that era. There is a beautiful FIAT 130 Coupe that I see around Sandyford every so often and its stunning.

Only met Joe on Wednesday out and about, grew up with the lads. Hopefully see it again at the RDS.

Not a fan of the colour though.

Kenmare again today. Unusual in that it has a foreign number (Dutch maybe?) but it's right hand drive.
