    Nice MG.

I think it's an old Portuguese number plate.

    Maybe a returned ex-pat.

    A couple of recent ones.

    Kadett up in Carrickmines.

Regular Jag in Sandyford. Nice car, awful reg plate.

That reg plate on the Jag isnt 'road legal' (It's a 'show' plate).

Nice Astra (Kadett) GTE...always liked them since first seeing them at my local Opel dealer in the 80's :)

It's always on it. It's LHD so it might be a US import, so I'm thinking maybe the owner keeps it as a nod to where he found it.

Definitely a US import with the running lights on the sides.

It is actually. Specific number plate legislation only came into force on 1/1/91. Anything registered before then is open season.

The Jag is a US import, was for sale maybe 8-10 years ago. I had a look at it, but seller was asking too much. Never met the seller, but it was parked up near Bird Ave for a long time.

Always liked the Kadett D / Astra, it was the nicest of the lot IMO. None of them left these days from what was one of the biggest selling cars of the time. Nice sound out of them too.

There's a "new" dark blue W126 (post '85) driving around Santry/Swords, I've seen it three times over the past 10 days. V8 as well.

Were plenty of Kaddetts around back in the day but wouldn't have been too many GTE's.

Wasn't somebody here trying to restore a Kadett D "Cead"*?

    How did he get on?

    Great 80's pic here BTW...:)

Wasn't the Kadett known as a GSE.

GSE was the Monza wasn't it? Later Kadett's were GTE also, then GSi.

Nah, there's 1986 legislation and 1982 legislation that applied at the time. Until I re-read it, I can't say that the 1992/1999 legislation repeals the earlier stuff, but I don't think all the provisions are lifted as the 1982 regs apply to ZVs.

Facelift models are the biz as well, I love those wheels, very understated, but still very elegant.

This has been here a while, looks in good nick, doors aren't locked and looks like kids have been in messing about with it...such a waste

Had to do a double take driving out of Charlestown shopping centre today. This thing is immaculate, I mean minty mint.

    Old English reg I'd say.

    Old English reg I'd say.

Yes, DM = Clwyd, so Wales, rather than England.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,937 ✭✭✭SmartinMartin

Just checked there, British, first registered 14/5/63. Beautiful. Just f*@#ing beautiful.

Why do you have to check if its British or Irish? If there are three letters without a Z or an I then its a Brit!
