And +100 points for spotting it out in the wild

The other half didn't share my enthusiasm as I barrelled down killney hill road trying to get a pic of it! Just stunning.

If you were driving and taking shots... great work... uh, I mean how reckless of you!

That car must live in a heated garage somewhere nearby. Plenty of stuff secreted away in that part of SCD, no doubt.

    My favourite Ferrari.

    No, dades is right: it's a 365 GT4 2+2 and not a 400i

Introduced in 1972 with a 4,4 litre V12 in the front, 6 weber carbs and a 5 speed manual box. "365" was the displacement per cylinder, GT4 meant 4-cams, and 2+2 meant there were 2 (cramped) seats in the rear. 524 produced.

In 1976 this was replaced by the nearly identical 400 Automatic and 400 GT. You can distinguish between the two by the triple rear lights of the 365 and the larger twin rear lights of the 400. Under the bonnet the engine capacity is now 4.8 litres, hence the name changed from 365 to 400, as that was the capacity per cylinder, but still on 6 weber carbs. 355 automatics and 147 manuals were produced.

Only in 1979 Fuel Injection replaced the carbs and the cars were now called 400i, this time 883 automatics and 422 GT's. The series ran until 1985 when it was replaced by the 412. Because the engine capacity went up to 5 litres, capacity was now 412, hence the different number.

These cars were never that popular amongst the Ferrari affecionado's because so many were automatics and it was considered more of a cruiser than a purebred sportscar.

I remember doing a double take when I saw that Ferrari on a country back road down in Limerick many years ago.
I often wondered about it, nice to see it's still in fine fettle.
    Thanks for the post.

Spotted loads of classics on the roads of Co Wicklow yesterday but, as I was cycling in a group and trying to hang on, I couldn't take any pics.

The most memorable (for all the wrong reasons) was a ZV plated 944 with caked mud up to the windows. Presumably a daily driver! All the others looked immaculate.

Forlorn in a shed in Rhode. A hardtop must be a rare enough accessory?

Hard tops are common enough for the Spitfire, unlike the MGB or Midget which you rarely see with hard tops, the Spitfire looks fantastic with its hard top fitted. Only problem is that they are seldomly needed and take up space when not in use.

Regarding the wheels, slot mags look the parts, minilites have been done to death on Spittys.

Didn't manage to get a pic but I was passed by a Toyota Hiace in Howth today on xxxx CI plates (Co Laois).

Nice to see a commercial on pre '87 plates and it looked like it was still earning it's keep.
