Are there any current new developments going on at the airport? Someone mentioned the Director was on Mid West lately and mentioned Air Bridges???? That would involve a much bigger apron and extension to the terminal building.

    Planned future projects include:
Runway Enhancements - This project will extend the existing Runway End Safety Area and increase the aircraft turning circle for Runway 09. This project is due to commence in November 2013
Online booking system - This project will see the introduction of a new online booking platform facilitating pre booking of car parking and and pre payment of the Airprot development fee. This project is set for completion in late 2013
Apron Extension - This project will be undertaken in two phases. Phase I will see the apron capacity doubled through the development of three additional aircraft stands. Phase II will see the extension of the apron capacity by a further three stands to accommodate the projected growth in passenger numbers and aircraft using the Airport

Not according to the airport website.

No political interest in mirroring the Shannon Feee Zone at Ireland West. A report was commissioned 2 years ago to look at the industrial park options. Produced by Shannon Development – and duly mothballed as the focus changed to saving Shannon.

Mayo Co Co produced a Local Area Plan for the site which made provision for an industrial zone.

Not sure if ABP ever ruled on Strategic Development Zone.

Only major project this year is the RESA on 27 (Runway End Safety Area) under construction. It extends the turn-pad and may increase TODA designation (Takeoff Distance Available).

A temporary light aircraft apron and hangar was added last year to facilitate the flying club moving out of the current Fire building.
