Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Playing Gerard in a two man midfield is lunacy. Not on him IMO, he shouldn't be in the situation. He can't do it anymore with only one lad beside him.

A game won and lost in Liverpool

Luis Suarez is just brilliant for his wit and invention and technical skill.

He does love an aul joke.

Gerrard again buckles under pressure. There was no way that england team could do much with a midfield partnership of gerrard and henderson. They were muck in both games

Gerrard as a holding CM is a joke.

Yep. Been ****e for Liverpool this season.

Gerrard a is done after the W.C, and if you ask me Scholes was right..Rooney peaked a couple of years ago.

Johnson, Welbeck should not get another cap and Barkely should be giving all the support and encouragement so to build the next England squad around.

Gerrard will undoubtably be the scapegoat but how bad were the England centre-halves for both Suarez goals? Completely lost him twice.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 360 ✭✭ConstantJoe

England aren't really out. If Uruguay lose to Italy (possible) then they'll be on at best -2 goal difference. If Costa Rica lose to Italy (also possible), they'll be on at best +1.

So if Italy play well and win both their final matches, then England need to beat Costa Rica by at least two goals. Costa Rica will play very defensively, I'm sure, but its still not impossible.

Losing your first two matches and qualifying has never been done before, but in this situation its just unlikely, not impossible.

A complete joke of a captain tonight.

Just checked and not surprised you're a Man U fan.

There goes my bet on England. So so poor. Not a world class player in the entire team Im afraid. Uruguay were far from great. Cavani very poor again. Suarez just brilliant.
Too many of the England players are technically empty. Not one player wanted the ball tonight, afraid they would give it away again. Hope there isnt the usual media backlash and just accept they have to update their game. At least this time they have no scapegoat to hammer.

If you want Gerrard to play at a decent level just chat to Brendan Rodgers,

Same goes for with Rooney, Sterling, Welbeck, Henderson with their respective clubs.

Said it already, Hodgson is utterly cluless

I take no real pleasure in England losing today. However, I am enjoying a nice tall cold class of Adrian Chiles tears right now. Cannot stand that man.

Rooney played well managed by David Moyes - best player in the world right now IMO.

England had them after the goal.

they went cautious and let it go.

    the team reflecting their manager.

I don't think that's the case, England had them on the ropes initially after the equaliser. Then Uruguay simply got back on top and constantly pegged England back. I don't think the latter were happily welcoming that pressure on, they just couldn't get a foot back in it. Uruguay simply didn't let them.

Gerrard to retire before the next game would help England

Sterling and Welbeck should be dropped

The only one of the two who should be dropped is welbeck . I'd start Lallana ahead of welbeck any day of the week .

Find myself agreeing with Dunphy about Terry & Cole. Woy's move has backfired badly.

It's a pity that Roy Keane is not still on the ITV panel. He would have been very straight about England tonight.

Cahill was poor for both goals tonight. Gerrard played very poorly tonight.

How so? Thought they actually did OK tonight. Think Woy let the. Down more than anything with his tactics and team selection.

Looking at that 2nd goal it's pretty harsh to blame it on Gerrard. The flick could have just as easily come off the Uruguay player. The biggest problem was Suarez was left completely unmarked and anticipated the flick on which the centre-halves never did.

I thought Lallana was a good tackler?

    Poyet was right...

Suarez ran 5yards offside and took the gamble of it coming off a England player.

    Fücking guy is amazing.

    Woy is at fault 100%

He's a total, face rubbing, joke .That group of players were capable of much more.

Brendan Rodgers would have taken that group a lot further. But thank fcuk he didn't.

Can't believe people are defending Gerrard's performances in the World Cup so far!

He has had a 5 min spell in each game where he had an impact on the game but was absolutely anonymous apart from that.

The English media slated Suarez and Mario Balotelli for years and the two of them pretty much end England's World Cup hopes

Welbeck playing is just bizarre, how he can he be a first pick when he barely gets into the utd team

    Hodgson has destroyed this team
