Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I love how he plays football.

No idea what he's really like but he seems decent enough in interviews.

How is Welbeck even in the squad never mind the team.

He does nothing but roll around the ground, he never looks up either just runs like a blind bull until he falls down.

Gerrard has controlled the midfield, its everyone else being caught out in possession.

Aye. Think its lazy analysis to say that he's been poor.

Its all playing into Costa Rica's hands .

    England a big team lol

    Put down the shovel pal.
    It's getting embarrassing.

Passing from England has been sloppy.

Wayne Rooney has been one of the better players if not the best player for England?
    Have my ears deceived me?

Hodgson needs to change this at half time.

Losing this in the middle of the park.

Baines has been poor creatively, I don't think Henderson has been up to much either.

Got Sturridge and Sterling mixed up at one stage.

If England lose they will be moaning forever about how Godin should've been sent off

Trevor Steven starting to show his colours .... George should play a bit of the Wolfe Tones during half time just to p1ss him off..

    Why what did he say?

But if England loose they are gone surely ??

Amazingly no, there are 81 result combinations and at least one of them means England could qualify on three points if they have the best g/d

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

England should be getting Sterling to run at Godin.

Guy in the pub just slagged off "Welbeck" for knocking the ball out of play, when he saw it was actually Sturridge he blamed Welbeck for not being there to recieve the ball.

Even if England do lose, they should still get out of the group. Italy would have to be favoured to beat Uruguay and subsequently England would only need to beat Costa Rica to do so.

Not entirely true. It would come down to goal difference with 3 teams on 3 points.

Cahill just stood there and watched Suarez run past him.

I doubt if George actually knows who the Wolfe Tones are...

Half time 1-0 Uruguay. Poor enough game.

Sets up some 2nd half now. Surely Barkley will be on, maybe Lambert soon enough too.

For years England have been aspiring to be like Spain and you could say now they're probably better, small consolation

England have a dearth of bastards in their team while Uruguay have them in abundance, very passive performance.

Wilshere for Gerrard. Won't happen though.

How the f**k has Donal Skehan got an ad in one of the biggest world cup matches... Thats a waste of advertising space..

Even I could cook what he cooks.... "Tonight we will be making what is called a "SAND-WICH" "...

England can consider themselves fairly unlucky with Godin not picking up a second yellow, but Rooney SHOULD have scored anyway.

    Lallana needs to come on.

Half that team look like they don't give a ****

    Apparently, he also shot Kennedy.

Far more pressing issues. Think that would be a daft substitution, myself.

Think Welbeck should come off for Lallana. Get Sterling central, go with 2 up top, Sturridge and Rooney.

Wishere has too much of a habit of running into traffic and losing the ball.
Eng can't make the required changes with just 3 subs allowed.

    Barry for Gerrard
    Cole for Baines

Shows people shouldn't judge a team by one game. Uruguay are a great team.

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭Dapics

England's problems lie in the centre of midfield. It is from here that the attacking prowess of a team is dictated.

Henderson looks bereft of confidence and has failed 3/5 forward passes, the rest have been side to side or a backpass. Very unispiring from him and he really needs to be hauled off.

Gerrard is an also-ran. Uruquay are just running players past him. He has no pace and this is being exploited heavily.

    Hart is terrible.

LOL UTV still have the dodgy slightly racist "Refundino" ad on!

Enjoying this game. It's quite evenly matched and open. Suarez is the difference though, England had their chance to take the lead and missed, Suarez took his chance.

Rooney has been very impressive for England. As has Sterling. Baines is a weak link and Wellbeck is great one moment, clumsy the next. Gerrard having another quiet game, might be one international tournament too many for him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I can't wait for this to end really (whenever it does) cos there should be P45s for Rooney, Baines, Gerrard, Johnson, Lampard and one or two others with regard to Euro 2016. Start fresh - no one over 27/28. Build with fresh eyes and legs and youngsters who are probably being better coached than their recent predecessors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,281 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Not one England player is doing well, he could change at least 6 of them but then he should have at least changed 2 coming into it. Welbeck has been vomit bad, Baines has been ponderous and slow, Rooneys been very poor again, Johnsons wasting the ball and slowing things and Gerrard just isnt pushing them on from the middle.

  • Registered Users Posts: 111 ✭✭Unsung Hero

Baines is playing well within himself.

Watching in a hotel in Poland, about 20 English lads and myself. The minute the goal went in they start giving Rooney abuse, it's amazing how the media plants a seed and so many people let it grow
