going to ring them tomorrow to see what the craic is. I'm in low 30s and had a call last week asking if I'm interested in Athlone. Does this mean I'm in the checking references stage?

Not much notice, I think last Thursday I got the message. I was placed 198. From reading this thread they have just finished placing the 100-180's. So moving along, slowly but moving at least...

Best of luck today kitty3kids - you'll be fine! They are very nice and good at putting you at ease so don't worry. I have to say, I've done two interviews for the public service so far and they have been the most professional interviews I've ever done (and I've done my fair share of interviews!). You really feel that everybody gets a fair chance.

Make sure you have studied the competencies well and you should be grand.

Just out of the interview now. Think I did ok with the four competencies. The man and women interviewing were really nice. They said I should get a message to my public jobs profile in about 5 days telling me if I was successful or not!

    That's great kitty3kids!

After you are told on the boards that you passed the interview how long is it normally before they contact references, and then offer a job? roughly

It varies a lot theaxel132, depending on region. For me (Waterford/Wexford) it took 2 weeks after interview results until they contacted my references. It's now two further weeks down the line and I've heard nothing.

I've read elsewhere on this thread that some people are contacted days after passing the interview and receive job offer within a couple of weeks. I've been trying to figure out how long I have to wait for an offer and I THINK that perhaps 4-5 weeks after reference check is about average - but again, it's hard to say. Best thing is probably to search for your region on this thread to see what the story is.

All the other regions seem to be moving much faster than Waterford/Wexford - it's maddening!

Did the Dublin interview last Friday (18th). I thought it went well but that's neither here nor there. Has anyone heard back from them yet ?

How long does it normally take for contract to be sent? Got my start date over a week ago for 5th oct but no contract yet. Is it sent by post or email usually?

Congrats! Did my interview a week ago and still haven't heard back yet. Where are you in the rankings? I think they're placing near enough to 1200 at the moment

That would be ideal for you! I'm 1252, you will probably get an offer before the end of the year. I'm working in Limerick but would happily take the job in Dublin

Didn't hear back from mine for a good few months.

    Patience is the game.

I did the exams almost 2 years ago and only started a month ago.

It seems to vary widely, got my results a month ago but haven't heard anything since
