Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Russia need to introduce Vladimir Putin quickly; there's bags of goals on him im sure

Oh at least a hat-trick - Ukraine, Moldova, perhaps Uzbekistan also ;)

    Dire stuff now

Mirallas or Origi on for Lukaku should be Belgium's first move.

edit - good timing, Origi has been linked with Liverpool for the past couple of months.
Lukaku has apparently only had one touch in the opposition box in his 145 minutes of this World Cup.

This game must have more wrong choices of pass than any other game I've seen.

    Lukaku off for some kid.

Russia on top for a long time now. If they had a decent forward they'd be a couple up by now.

Lukaku out after 55 minutes? No vote of confidence from Wilmots there.

Benteke's absence being felt now imo.

    No Mirallas?

Where are all the hipsters with their horn for Belgium gone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,796 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

Belgium were the 5th favorites for the world cup, I think calling them the hipsters choice is a joke that's past it's sell by date.

Aren't Belgium historically less than the sum of their parts. Or something.

    Very poor match.

This Belgium team not living up to the hype.

Seem a bit like England, plenty of big names but maybe not a team.

    Iran

Cap doesn't care about winning - just not losing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 677 ✭✭✭vidor

Ha, the crowd booing the quality of the game. Rare to hear that!

Proof that any team with Fellaini in midfield is doomed from the first whistle.

    This is worse than Iran-Nigeria.

Fairly sure I said in their opening game's thread. They went from potential darkhorses for Euro 2016 (correct) to darkhorses for World Cup 2014 (incorrect) to being betted on into being one of the favourites.. in South America. Insanity.
A lot of EPL based hype so it was

Thought a lack of full backs will kill them, it's proving there's more to that.

Is Fellaini wearing long sleeves? Hardly cold out there.

    June 1994;

My first time in a bookie shop. Big WC bets.

    Belgium to win it.
    Valery Karpin top scorer.

That was the beginning and the end of my hipster days.

Running around like a headless chicken.

Belgium should either take him off or stick him up as a target man

Think Fellaini is letting them down hugely, he needs to be dumped immediately. Mertens looks very dangerous on that right wing and Hazard/De Bruyne wil probably grow into the tournament. All worthless if you have a donkey in midfield though.

    At least Russia are trying.

It is worse because these teams were not expected to be sh1te.

Apart from the odd exception, Belgium seem to be producing a different type of player then they traditionally did. In the 80s and 90s they had a very robust unit who were highly effective but lacked the flair of the French or the Dutch aside from Luc Nilis or one or two others.

Well the manager put him there so I'd blame him.

Someone needs to buy Marc Wilmots a suit.

If Capello had some cojones, they could win this. Dzagoev and Kerzhakov should start, certainly the former.

Bit of a gentlemans agreement going on here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,398 ✭✭✭McDave

The first 15 minutes sure was a false dawn for Belgium. Any decent team would have put them away by now.

I'm beginning to think so. Have a fiver on Belgium, but interestingly their odds got a lot, lot longer in the few hours before kickoff.

Belgium should throw on Januzaj...game is crying out for a spark
