Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do men like crazy/unnatural hair colours on women?

Whether or not men find it attractive is a going concern for a lot of women whenever they make any alteration to their appearance.

    *This isn't breaking news*

    Likewise for men.

    It's only natural.

I like it. Especially the reds, purples and blues.

Unfortunately those dyes are so hair damaging it took me ages to get my hair into a good condition. And sadly I'm one of those girls that can't really pull this look off :(
I've got naturally coppery brown hair and am sticking with it for now. Anything darker seems to be too harsh looking on me and I don't like the idea of anything lighter.

I always admire the confidence girls must have to pull off blue or pink hair. It would look insanely ridiculous on me, and I don't think it'd be well received in my conservative work environment either.

Coppery brown is a great natural colour, don't mess with perfection :)

I don't think it looks particularly attractive. It wouldn't ruin a pretty face but I don't like it. Piercings and tattoos I like less and for me personally they take from a woman's attractiveness.

They are probably doing it to appear a particular way to certain other people, perhaps not necessarily men, but somebody. Because unless they spend an inordinate amount of time admiring themselves in the mirror they won't even see it much and it would be a bit pointless. Though I suppose the mirror scenario is always a possibility.

Mostly different colours look fine to me. The only one that struck me as weird was a couple of girls I've seen over the last year who've died their hair a sort of ash grey.

I miss having red hair :(

Used to do it different colours all the time, but my hair is so damaged from bleaching that my hairdresser told me to only use dark, non permanent dyes for two years until my hair stops falling out. :(

Everybody does, it's called physical attraction, yaknow the thing that makes you go up to a stranger and chat to em not there going, oh I bet that person has a wonderful personality.

99% of people care. The other 1% are lying. Stop trying to pretend that physical attraction doesn't exist.

Lets ask myself, we're getting back positives here. All sorts of colours are great, purple, blue, silver and so on. Pretty cool to me.

As I said, it doesn't matter about hair, tattoos, piercings - it's the person inside.

I'm guessing it may be an age thing, but I dislike any kind of piercing and almost all tattoos.

We are talking about external physical attraction. If you like imagining internal organs then you may want to start a thread on that.

The lady friend has purple hair, just the front half anyway. She's not high maintenence and I think it looks fantastic. It used to be pink, but think both of us prefer the purple. Blue is next I think.

I think he means that the reality is that attraction starts with the physical.

Personally I find someone then becomes more attractive if they have the personality/sense of humour to go with it, but unless you have that initial physical spark you probably won't get to that point.

Tattoos and piercings (other than ears) would immediately put me off someone.

Natural hair colours are much more preferable also though mad colours wouldn't be as much of a deal breaker as tattoos.

I'm simply don't believe that a persons looks or appearance have no influence on you at all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,987 ✭✭✭Legs.Eleven

Dyed my blonde hair red years ago but it wasn't "mad" red, just a dark red but I'll go au natural now 'till I go grey then I might dye it a white blonde.

I think it can look brilliant on certain people. My brother's girlfriend is a proper punk in her 40s with dyed blue hair and she really pulls it off.

It's like... I think it and you say it :)

Tattoos would actively put me off someone. Ditto piercings aside from one in each ear.

I don't see why anyone would care, it's a hair colour. Fairly trivial imo.

I disagree. I'd say women with normal hair, no tattoos and minimal piercings are in the majority.

Yeah, I'm attracted to everyone alright.

Hair colour is easily changeable, I just don't why it would be an issue...or maybe it's just me.

    Huh?

I'd say there are more women without tattoos, dodgy coloured hair or piercings in places other than the ear than the other way around.

Though I've no need to be fishing anywhere myself :)

You'll find a lot of women (and men) have tattoos in this day and age. Some you might only see if you do actually get to sleep with them! Majority of women I've slept with had at least one now that I think of it. They weren't on display to everyone but if you got them naked they were there.

Delighted you found your perfect woman who meets your exact standards too :p

That may be how it is for you, but why do you think it's that way for everyone? For me, with guys anyway I'd have to know the person first or at least something about them so I've an indication of the type of person they are, then I find them physically attractive, but rarely just on its own. Telling people they're lying or they're full of sh1t  Not everyone sees things the same way you know...

Well I'd say you're in a teeny tiny minority with that one. I'm sure 99.99% of people are able to be physically attracted to someone without knowing anything about them whatsoever.

Which means people are able to not be attracted to someone without knowing anything about them, and there's nothing wrong with that either. :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭Reiketsu

I current have pink hair :). I had black hair before that also red, blonde, purple and Orange over the years. I liked the red the most though. I use La Riche and its not damaging to my hair at all - just take great care with the bleaching process to minimise damage. I also have piercings (3 in my lip, bridge, earlobes and a few retired ones). It's not for everyone - same as how I look at a fella in a tracksuit or a checkered shirt and chinos I suppose :pac:

Well I only said about guys, this thread asked about girls!

I don't think it's a teeny tiny minority at all, there's obviously others in this thread and I know a few people the same myself. Whether it's a minority or not is irrelevant, no reason to be insulting people and dismissing their opinions, just because they are different to yours.

    Who's insulting anyone?!

Of course opinions can be dismissed if they're nonsense though. Everyone has a right to an opinion, it doesn't mean people have to take any notice of it.

I would imagine that blind people struggle to be physically attracted to someone on the account that they are blind. I am unsure how this is in any way relevant to everyone else in the world though.

In your world, perhaps. I'm one of the tiny minority who find personality much more attractive than so-called surface beauty. Quite a few of the so-called beautiful people can turn out to be quite ugly on the inside.
