A shortlived "alternative" club was Gotham City on the south Quays...the was also The Source in Clare St and the Olympic Ballroom which later went on to become Dublin's premier rave venue.

    Sides - Dame Street.
Waterfront - Sir John Rogersons Quay.
    System - South Annes Street.
    Red Box - Harcourt Street.
Ormonde Multi-media Centre - Ormonde Quay.
Olympic Theatre - can't remember the name of the road.

All early to late '90s raves. Some of the best nights of my life were spent within the hallowed walls of these fine establishments.
Along with others of course, and much better before the commercialisation crept in. Fcuk you drinks companies with your drinks promotions.
And fcuk all of you pissheads who went raving buckled drunk and batin' sh1te out of each other at the end of the night. The total opposite of what raves were about.

Spent a lot of time in McGonagles, Sides and the Olympic Ballroom.

Used to be 2 great nights in the late 80s in McGonagles called Voodoo and Soul on Ice. They got some great DJs over that went on to be very well known: Coldcut, Mike Pickering, Jay Strongman, Pete Tong, Dave Dorrell, Norman Jay etc.

Apartment. Jaysus. Blast fro he past.

Also a little later was the Rock Garden in Crown Alley. Used to be a good night there called UFO.

Club Sandino at McGonagles was by far the best night out!

I think Jets was at the back of the Old Boot Inn...

What about Flamingos (Stillorgan), Heartbreakers (Phoenix Park Race Course), Bubbles (behind the Apartments) and the Tara Club.....

It was called The End when we used to go there (1994-95ish I think) :D

Nobody has mentioned the Palace on Camden street, and I mean the way it was back in the early 2000's was there every thursday night with my VIP card to skip the queue. Pop music downstairs and then you could go upstairs to the Green Lasers and the dance music.

    Never a place like it!

Also frequented Zanzibar, the Red Box and Tramco in my time too! None were as good as the old Palace!

That rings a bell..............was it a disco or live music? year(s)?

    Disco I think - mid 1970's.

Was another place at the end of the lane - The Revolution?

All niteclubs when they get too old become 'scummy' or 'manky' really tbh. Can anybody on this thread name a Dublin niteclub that was closed down 'in it's prime'?

Pravda niteclub beside where the bronze sculptures are of shoppers. Gone about 6 months to a year?

The castle, jets, the ormond and Colombia mills i used to frequent.a poster mentioned that the castle was "scummy" but that's not entirely true, the clientele was made up some very "colourful" characters it has to be said but it was a very rare occasion when trouble happened, the bouncers were headcases. i ventured into the blue banana in clondalkin one night, that was scummy.Nothing untoward happened me,but it made the castle look like an upmarket Manhattan cocktail bar.

The Asylum was always scummy...you were searched for weapons on the way in and if you hadnt got one they'd give you one!

Wasn't that called Tomato or something for a while as well? After TMF and before The Village?

Also called Mono for a while..

Anyone remember the name of the disco bar in Temple bar, I think it was on Crow Street? It had 2 entrances from different streets? Very pokey and the roof was really low but it was always pretty lively iirc..

Racking my brains trying to think of the name of it.. Not Rí Rá but the same style of venue.. and I think it had a basement nightclub too.

Used to frequent the Temple Theatre a good bit during my crazy days :D

Loved The Palace on Camden St too.. always a good night in there..

Traffic on Abbey Street, was Mojos before that... called the Yellow Pepper or something now I think?
