Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

5-0 now and still pretty much all bayern and they're looking for more.

Roma were doing good for the first while but they are rattled now.

19 goals before half time has to a record for all matches

    Amazing stuff from Bayern!

Maybe I overestimated Roma? but that's still mightily impressive.

Bayern are just out of this world in that first half to be fair. I think agaisn't most teams in the CL they would have put five past them playing like that.

Beckenbauer on German sky saying he'd have been happy with a 0-0 at half time, which is a reflection of how others estimate Roma.

First minutes were tense, and of anything Roma were doing better with some decent counter attacks.
But the Roma defense is now a shambles and Ashley cole looks as if he's never played a champions league game before.
Looking forward to the second half.

Neuer has made 2 or 3 unbelievable saves this game, any other keeper and roma would have more goals here.

Hardly. Those scores happen very fairly. Never mind all,in one night. Tomorrow will be a bore fest now probably

not sure what to make of that comment as Man city drawing 2-2 was not expected, and they'll now be struggling to get through to the knock out phase at all.
Nikosia also almost drew with moneybags PSG
So 2 games there where there was (and almost was) an upset

grand, Maribor and Borisov got a kicking, but they are possibly the weakest teams in the group stages

and Bayern Roma was a freak result and it'll be closer in the return leg in a couple of weeks, but still a game worth watching.

do sky not have highlights on their site?
or you could download them from the usual places

The German teams seem to have an excellent run this season so far, despite quite a few of their players coming back late from the WC etc., with all four being on course to qualify for the second round.

    12 Games => 9 Wins, 2 draws and only 1 defeat.

Dortmund to get to the final at least, if not win it. Back them heavily each way. Players coming back and their poor domestic form will see them go under the radar. Were so unlucky not to knock Madrid out last year with only half a team out, with Mkhitaryan fcuking up twice at 4-3 right in front of goal. And they owe Munich a beating

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,057 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

At this early stage its hard to see past Real Madrid, Munich, Dortmund as winners, with perhaps Chelsea and Barca going close but not winning it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,882 ✭✭✭✭klose

Leading goalscorer after matchweek 4 is.......luiz adriano with 9 goals!

iirc thats now Messi closer to Raul's record with him playing before Ronnie next time round?

So Messi might break the record before Ronaldo, he will not be pleased.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,428 ✭✭✭Talib Fiasco

Yeah Messi and Raul have 71, Ronaldo has 70. In an essence Messi already is the all time top scorer but it doesn't matter as the two boys will be battling it out for years to come anyway. It's amazing to think Raul's tally is so far ahead of everyone else besides Ronaldo and Messi. Such an underrated striker in the all time discussions.

    C. Ronaldo might have something to say about that tomorrow night though.

I'd imagine it could change hands a few times over the coming years. God only knows what the record will be when both have hung up the boots.

Fun stat I saw somewhere. Messi has 52 goals in 2014, Ronaldo has 54. Messi has far more to his game than goals, Ronaldo not as much. 2014 was a bad year for Messi yet apparently Ronaldo is superman, you do the maths. Will FIFA reopen voting as they did last year? Absolutely not.
