It's not hugely important but if I can control it I like to know I'm getting the full spectrum. I usually mix quinoa with tuna and then just dice a random assortment of vegetables on top but now I'm going to learn what each vegetable/ingredient actually delivers so I don't double up.

Is there any high protein vegan meals you could recommend? I'm not vegan but it can't hurt to remove meat from a meal here and there. There's a lot of online resources but they tend to be US based and they have a range of sprays, sauces and spices we can only dream of.

Google search is really good for finding out the amount of protein or anything else in any given thing! Just search "(food eg quinoa) protein" and it will tell you the amount per grams.

Check out what foods are good here...

People associate meat/dairy with 100% protein, but if you do a search for say chicken fillet protein and compare it to some of those sources you'll understand there's much better plant sources for protein.

Generally most obvious things are beans/pulses/grains, less obvious would be tofu/seitan/tempeh. But all types of foods contain protein too so don't forget that. If you build your meal like... mix of veg + beans/tofu/seitan/tempeh in a sauce and add an extra protein source easily by accompanying that with quinoa/bulgar/lentils/cous cous/brown rice instead of potatoes/white rice.

Things I make a lot...... quinoa burgers, falafel, peanut & chickpea stew, sweet potato & quinoa chilli, quinoa & kidney bean stew, lots of indian food like chana masala or dal, mexican food, minced tofu bolognaise, chickpea tuna sandwiches, hoummous, I could go on and on.

    Tonight I'm making this.....

Most of the protein in that would be coming from the tofu, the cashews in the sauce and the nuts in the pesto and the seeds.

This thread is getting a bit dangerous now coz I'm starving!

Can't beat some nice beef though :D

Does that say you eat tuna

If I wanted a meaty taste like beef I'd reach for some seitan. Nah I should have spelled it like 'toona' or something :P When you mash up chickpeas with mayo and seaweed/nori, it tastes/looks like tuna.
