Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Folks,
Friend rang me asking for some advice but as i'm not an Apple person I don't have a clue.

He's about to get a new iPhone and wants to 'completely backup' the old iPhone so he can copy over everything (contacts, email accounts etc.) to the new one.

What is the best solution here? Bearing in mind I have no clue re. iPhones.

Tell him to go through settings and make sure iCloud Backup is enabled, and that there has been a backup recently.

Also, plug the old iPhone into his computer and make a manual backup by clicking Backup on iTunes.

There are two options, if your friend manages his iPhone using iTunes on his computer then he can back it up to his PC and have all his apps, music, photos etc on there to be added back after he gets his new iPhone. It will also have the backup of his old iPhone saved there.

If he doesn't use the phone with iTunes then he can perform an iCloud backup. If he goes into 'Settings >iCloud' he will see a toggle switch for iCloud backup. This will backup his iPhone via Wifi and the backup file itself will be saved in the cloud. When setting up his new phone he can then restore from the iCloud backup. All apps and other files will need to be downloaded onto the new iPhone though. It should do it automatically and put all apps back exactly how they were before but it can take a little more time downloading depending on his internet connection speed.

Either way make sure your friend checks and is 100% sure that he has a backup of his old iPhone before he gets his new one. It should work ok and is generally easy enough do restore.

Thanks a lot folks. I'll advise him to do both iTunes and iCloud to be sure to be sure.

    Cheers :)
