Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You can argue that the unsavoury element of biting makes this a more serious offence than the damage caused but it shouldn't comprise 95% of the punishment.

As far as I can see it falls under Violent Conduct.

You'd get a 3 game ban for clocking someone. Probably the same for spitting.

5 or 6 for this seems fine to me.

I'd agree if it was the first time. The 3rd time he deserves a much longer ban

He knows himself that he has a lenghty ban coming as he did not even celebrate the win. If Liverpool have any pride left they will ship him out as he is a disgrace to a once proud club - forget win at all costs. He needs to get at least a year possibly more.

Ok I'll reply to it. He said liverpool fans are saying it never happened and by Liverpool fans he means a tiny percentage of them.

He's bitten twice and been punished twice for each action, he still hasn't learned his lesson. Time to hand him a lengthy ban, the last one was 10 games so this one should be longer. The guy is a nutter.

Yeah, but can he do it on a cold Wednesday night against Stoke?

Didn't see the match, just found out from a friend across Facebook and ben reviewing images, gifs and whatever video I can find.

Extremely disappointed with Suarez. I understand his mentality. He is super competitive and wants to win at all costs. If doing this means winning a penalty and scoring a goal Suarez will do it.

But it isn't right. He has got to come out tomorrow and apologize 100%. He could miss the rest of the World Cup or more because of this.

Yeah, if something isn't working it's best to keep doing it! Yeah, seriously he deserves a ban but it's obvious to me that it's intrinsic in him, another ban wont solve it, help will.

Well well well. Here we are again. What a surprise.

There is no doubt he intended (and succeeded) in biting Chiellini. That can't be argued with.

I think what struck me more (this time!) was the instant claim HE was the victim, clutching his face in attempt to get Chiellini booked off. Writhing around like he had been shot in the eye.

    What a completely disgusting coward.

It was a cowardly act. There is no better description. He is a disgrace to the sport and I would be ashamed to have to explain that to my son, were he old enough to understand it.

It boggles the mind that certain posters on here will defend him and play the incident down. What he did was assault another player and then instinctively try blame the victim to hide the crime. Combined, these are the elements that destroy the modern game.

    Hang him from the rafters.

He will miss the rest of the world cup and who knows what else - its a slap in the face for anyone associated with him over the past year since the last biting incident. Also this brings into question the sheer state of mind of the guy. Sad stuff.

Jesus thank god your son didn't see it. He could be scared for life after it. I'm not sure are you taking the piss with this comment. I don't think you are. Suarez probably went down because he throw an elbow at him. Not defending Suarez he had every right to throw an elbow at him after what happened.

What's the story with him? Why does he do it? It's like he may bite an opponent when under stress, something a person with autism might do when under stress. I think he probably feels awful tonight, and he's someone with a gift who does need help.

Can Fifa look into this? I thought that if the referee saw the incident and gave a foul, that the was the referees choice at the time and they can't go back on it. Thats why Defoe didn't get anything. Suarez wasn't booked or anything in the Invanovic incident so the referee missed it.

Well if he can't stop himself from harming other players then he shouldn't be allowed on the pitch.

    I mean that.

It's one thing for players to lash out and kick someone when they're angry but when a mental condition means they can't stop themselves from biting another player then they shouldn't be allowed play football until those problems are resolved.

I assume there will be some trying to play down or defend this behaviour, but there is none, I don't care how good you are, and he is a brilliant player, there is no place for this kind of behaviour on a football pitch. I hope FIFA take a hard line. He has previous at a world cup too so maybe they will be keen to take him to task properly for this.

What the punishment should be I don't know yet, would require some thought and I highly doubt there is precedent on the matter, he has bitten before and he has cheated before at a world cup so I would think that will go against him.

Interesting times, and worrying for Liverpool fans I guess

With respect I think you need to educate yourself and I'm not a Liverpool fan.

Suarez is a very talented footballer but obviously has issues that pertain to lots of people that you might meet in all walks of life. He probably immediately knew what he did was wrong, and that's why he reacted the way he did. His talent as a footballer will stand to him. I'm certain he will survive this latest discretion and continue to flourish in his career.

Can Fifa ban him from club and country? Biting someone is crazy and disgusting but does it really deserve a huge ban? It's not the worst thing to happen on a pitch.
