Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not much more than a European summer say so it shouldn't really make much difference to any of the players.

Good thing, those European Uruguayan don't adapt to different climates all that well.

Alkin getting all homoerotic about the Uruguayans here.

Not just the bad football, also the diving around and melodramatic stuff too.

Unfortunately due to the way the World Cup is set up, there will always be latin countries involved.

I've watched every game he's played for club and country for the last 18 months.

Countless times he's been on a yellow and looking petulant going in at HT and he's come out and played well in the second half. The odds of him getting sent off are about the same as him winning Italy the game.

And besides, the criticism of him started well before the yellow.

There the commentator goes again - "He had the option to do something wonderful today but he decided to be petulant instead." They're obsessed with him.

ITV commentator trying to come up with excuses for Balotelli's substitution is laughable.

Fairly outrageous attention on Mario alright.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,825 ✭✭✭Timmyctc

Jesus, watching players just fall from what is actually a grazing of contact is overwhelmingly pathetic.

EDIT: Like even there, Shoulder to shoulder, all the defender has to do is go to ground and grab the ball and he'll get the free 99% of the time.

You kind of feel sorry for Ballotellie there, looking all forlorn on the bench... But then again you'd think he should probably just feel lucky, cos if Deschamps was the manager he wouldnt have been in the squad..

Cavani had a fair argument there, but EVERYBODY has dived their way through the first 45 minutes so how in God's name is the ref meant to know a genuine foul from one that is play-acted..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,495 ✭✭✭✭Billy86

Love how Hamilton (is it?) thinks drawing as little attention as possible to being fouled is more likely to get the foul called for your. Awesome logic.

It's more than latin players that are at it. A fair few German players were pretty good at the oul playacting down through the years. Watch any archived Holland Vs Germany game. Klinsmann had his diving and acting down to such a find art, he once got a job offer from the Bolshoi Ballet.

He looked to me like his concentration had gone. But i accept you have a greater knowledge so fair enough.

An Italy v Uruguay game was always going to be a masterclass in the dark arts.

I never said I don't like latin countries, I just find it hard to warm to either side playing right now.

Pirlo would disagree with you. He said in the presser that he's never EVER gone out on a pitch looking for a draw. :pac:

Superb ball from Suarez, terrible finish from Rodriguez.

I'm not trying to say he played well, far from it, but the constant remarks being made by the commentators on RTE was ridiculous and it's very annoying to hear it as a Milan fan because they don't give a fair representation of him at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,370 ✭✭✭✭Son Of A Vidic

What a waste and he won't be getting many chances of those again.

    What an abysmal decision.

This world cup has been the worst for refereeing decisions.

Buffon will get himself sent off if he continues like that.

    Well then... that changes everything.

    Absolutely laughable red card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Deserved and Buffon should be gone too.

Time for Italy to implement plan Chelsea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,762 ✭✭✭bmcc10

    That's not a red

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,825 ✭✭✭Timmyctc

Oh I take that back. Maybe he should've been. looked clumsy more than anything. Think he was going to trap the ball initially.

EDIT: Actually looking again. Its a yellow max. He looks like he's going to spin on it and the player gets in before him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

That's harsh really. Studs were up that's about it.

Always run the risk of a red when studs are up like that

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Music Moderators, Regional Midlands Moderators Posts: 24,126 Mod ✭✭✭✭Angron

Oh dear. Feels a little harsh, it was kinda stupid but I dunno if it was worth a straight red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 280 ✭✭Hey Yall

Harsh but looks like there was some malice in it and with the ref right next to them can see the reasoning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭kevohmsford

Marchisio sent off. Did not see the tackle.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,034 Mod ✭✭✭✭The Mig

100% a red card on seeing the replay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,881 ✭✭✭TimeToShine

TBF if his studs are planted in the ground that is a career ending tackle.

Looked controlled though, a yellow would have sufficed but perhaps the red is necessary.
