Monitor is really nice on it (It's a 28" Hantarex polo reflected up onto the mirror). Working 1 Euro coin mech, spare gun as well for parts. Internals are nice and neat which is good to see.

Pics aren't great but you get the idea(Daisy Dog not sure about the situation at all :)).

I wasn't too far off with the size test I did with the 3d model :):

I'll look into the difficulty settings, it seems harder than normal now but i've not exactly played it in a while. It must be a dip switch as I dont see any settings in the service menu for it.

Yeah its hefty enough all right :)

    Edit:
It's seen a few coins in its time anyway :)

Can't get the high score to work on the point blank game. There are high scores, but the game doesn't ask me for my initials after I beat them, the game just resets after I've finished a game. It sort of seems it's meant to reset or something.

Anyone have any ideas? Is it normal for the game to reset once you've finished a game?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,392 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

Dunno if thats right, if its anything like time crisis those scores are kept even when the machine is switched off, you have to go into the service menu to reset the scores. Unless its turned off in there to not record them?

Yeah I've reinitialised the high scores in service menu. But it still doesn't ask me to save any scores and does the reset thing. Maybe a dip switch in the pcb itself? It's inside a metal cage so I'll have a gander at it at the weekend maybe.

dunno about point blank but time crisis has a time mode and a story mode, the time mode is the only one that lets you enter initials.

Another expensive snes get. I'll be taking a break from expensive games for awhile.

Congrats on the copy of E.V.O. Did you actually bite the bullet and pay full price for it, or did you manage to find a great deal?

Not exactly. I'm doing a job and on the same pay scale I'd be on if I went straight from college with a degree but I'm not complaining!

110 including postage from the Netherlands. Not a bad price really.

And here I am prevaricating about spending €30 on a Wii game, and you blow 110 on a Snes game!

It's a sad state of affairs that this is now a common practice with expensive games isn't it? :(

Definitely recommended with expensive Snes games.

Open the cart, if there's one of those tsop adapters and/or wires then it's a repro. If it's eproms with no signs of soldering/modding then it'll be legit

Not exclusively a retro get, but I'm sticking to my usual thing of being at least one generation behind.

    The Last Of US
    The Uncharted Series
Metal Gear 4: Sons Of The Cutscene Patriots
    Jak & Daxter

....I'm sure there's more but that's all I can remember off of the top of my head.
GTAIV & V if you haven't played those obviously.

    *edit*

Where the hell did I get 'Encharted' from. Is that even a word?!

    The Last Of Us
    Wipeout
    Journey
    Metal Gear Solid IV
    LittlebigPlanet
    Uncharted Trilogy
    GTA V

And if you haven't on PS2:

    ICO HD
    Shadow Of The Colossus HD

Came with Uncharted 4, MGS4, GTAV, and a bunch more so I'm all over those.

Red Dead Redemption looks like it should be fun too. The Last of Us is already on my shopping list, as is Jak and Daxter now.

Also going to pick up Little Big Planet next time I'm in CEX.

The FIFA games that came with it are likely to be traded in, unless my brother wants to keep them. Not my usual cup of tea. No soccer game has since matched the perfection that was Nintendo World Cup.

I was. Especially about Nintendo World Cup. I must have rented that game from the Computer Game shop in Blackrock Main St about 7 times.

Portal 2 was a fun game if you haven't already played it. As for the Uncharted series, I don't think they've put out a bad game yet. The soundtrack in Uncharted 2 was brilliant.

I played through most of Infamous when it was free after the PSN was hacked and remember it being pretty good. Certainly worth picking up if you find it cheap.

Keep an eye out for Time Crisis 4 too if you like the series.

I spent a lot of time playing MAG. It was a shame it was online multiplayer only and the servers were only up for around 2 years. The largest game mode had somewhere near 256 players per match.

Get Uncharted 2 before you play 3.
    Journey is a masterpiece.
    Disgaea 4.
    Demons' Souls and Dark Souls.
    Hohokum.
    Catherine.
    Yakuza 3/4
    Critter Crunch
    Flower
    Pixeljunk Shooter
    Velocity

Motorstorm Pacific Rim is cheap and fun.
Puppeteer is an OK game but looks amazing, also cheap.
And, unless you have owned them elsewhere, you simply have to buy the essential Orange Box from Valve, simply the most amazing collection of games on one disc, and get Portal 2 while you're at it

The Orange Box on PS3 is, if I recall, a crappy port. Play it on PC or 360 if by chance you haven't gotten around to it in the last six or seven years!

I was never into PC gaming :o and my first experience with Half Life was on the 360. The Orange Box on the 360 is a must have, it can be picked up for small money now. If anybody doesn't have it, get it now. I would have to rank it in my top ten favourite games of all time.
