Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean is what I tell the girls that complain...

Wait, what are we talking about again?

I'd like something like this someday, but I honestly haven't got the first clue about arcade hardware.

    Whats up with the pony?

I'll definitely look into it. Does he get his stock in often? How have his prices changed in recent years?

I'd like something like this someday, but I honestly haven't got the first clue about arcade hardware.

You could do worse that pick up this
Link to MVS board and a copy of Puzzle Bobble
The sound isn't working but should be fixable and the two are only €60, make an offer of €50 and you might walk away with it.
Couple that with one of these,
    Supergun #1
    Or one of these
    Supergun #2

An ATX PSU and a suitable controller, you're all ready to play!

A cab later on for peanuts, stick that lot in it and you've an arcade cab along with a monitor, preferably CRT.
Heck, a Silverline cab like you have seen here can be had for around €200.

Really, there are all sorts of ways to owning your own cabinet.
And the good thing about this method is, with little outlay you can be playing on a regular, preferable CRT, TV and then upgrade as time goes on, for not too much more, and you can set the ideal size and how much work you want to do.
Do you want to restore and old old cab in need of love?
Do you want a fresh flatpack style build?
Do you want it all made and ready to rock?
    Upright?
    Sitdown?
    Cocktail?

Seems like a lot of questions, and while you answer them you could be already amassing some seriously sweet NeoGeo stuff, remembering that, with Bandits Superguns, you can also play a ton of other great Jamma arcade titles too.

No need to jump in and be overwhelmed with choice and prices, best to take it gradually and figure what it is that you want in your kitchen/frontroom/manshed!

It is doable, it all seems daunting at first. If you are refurbing a non working arcade : technical people have issues with woodwork/metalwork, and handymen have issues with technical bits. Always a helping hand here and on Jamma+.

And not forgetting the massive amounts of manuals, howtos, videos and tutorials online.

If you have space go for it.

Thanks for all of the info. I've been thinking about building a MAME cab for a while now, but who knows, maybe I'll sneak a jamma cab in too while the mother isn't looking, ha. The setup looks a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Would it be easy enough to connect an arcade stick and buttons to one of the superguns?

Are the MVS boards region locked in any way or will a cart from any region play in any board?

    Not region locked at all.
    Well worth the money
Carts are cheap and expensive, depending, but there is always the multicart option.

    Great way to start tbh

It's actually a really great game in a fun series. Also playing it drunk is not advised. The game is incredibly tough and needs a steady hand!

    Great! Thanks again.

I might do that so. At least it's playable while I'm waiting to put a cab around it. I've been thinking about getting into collecting arcade games for a while now (damn you all, ha) and this seems to be a good place to start.

The Bios region will affect some games though. Worth getting a unibios because it means some games are missing blood effects such as Metal Slug and even more importantly some games lack Mai's bouncing boob animations.

Some of the boards dont have a socketed bio chip!

Us poor European gamers were certainly deprived, ha. It's crazy the amount of features were changed for EU release. I've been playing Soul Calibur for ages and it was only last week when I found out about the Sophitia Easter egg. It's nice to know where the priorities of the Japanese game devs were, ha.

All Metal Slug versions in all regions have blood. You just have to switch it on in the dip menu as it's turned off by default for some stupid reason!

This came today. It's the Brazilian 'Playtronic' version, and while not as hugely expensive as the US version, it's still retaining a high value. All the text is in English too.

Yes the Japanese one is the one to get for the price certainly, I luckily managed to get this version for a well below value price so too good to pass up really.
