I think all we need is a big name signing to calm our nerves...same happens to us every transfer window. If we secure CL again next season, I think we'll be back to attracting big names to the club.

    Cheeky bid for Andy Carroll...

I hear he loves London so might be a bit difficult to broker a deal :pac:

Really? Know nothing about Damiao, except he was once a Highly-rated Prospect that was Linked with Spurs, that some on here wants.

But I do know about Fred and Jo. Specially Jo.

Fred I could understand, even though he's getting Old. But Jo? Surely this Damiao would be better than Jo.

Aye, he was, but tbf, Brazilians hype up any native striker who has had a good season which was the case for him. I was hoping Spurs were going to sign him.. before they ruined Soldado.

I'd have played Firmino up front alongside Neymar or Neymar just off him, tbh. Unfortunately for Firmino, a man called Scolari stood in his way.

Di Marzio - Origi will have a medical today and sign a contract. Markovic will have a medical tomorrow.

Is Origi going out on loan to Lille?

I think so, but I don't think anyone can be certain right now until the club says something post-signature. Depends if Borini and/or The Great One, aka Iago Aspas remain I'd have thought at any rate.

edit - The Great One is being linked with Sevilla, apparently.

Origi has massive potential but it doesn't look like a signing that will help us next season. Presuming that he's still going back to Lille on loan. Seems like Real Madrid came in for him late as well.

    Part of Moreno deal maybe?

Nuri, I'm not sure how I feel about your list. On one hand it's nice to see such quality players that we could bid for, on the other hand it's depressing as I don't think the club are looking at them as options.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,297 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

We weren't financially outmuscled for Sanchez. By all accounts we offered a very good deal. He just preferred to live in London.

That's what people are forgetting, players will prefer London any time over living in Liverpool, just a fact Liverpool have to live with it is a much bigger city.

Which is why Spurs may have beat Liverpool to targets

No. Players prefer spurs because of Kate Cohen articles.

    Fact.

Markovich appeared as a more or less done deal last week.

    Lambert came from nowhere.

Just because we don't know we're in for them doesn't mean we're not.

I'm sure the club has extensive knowledge of every player on Nuri's list and more. Until they're leaning against a shed in Melwood, it's a mystery who among them we're after.

Great to see Jose Enrique back in training. I might be on my own on this one but I'm a fan of Enrique, for the most part, would be happy enough to not sign another left back if I could be sure he would stay fit.

Money and Champions league is enough to bring black players to Russia so they can be racially abused.

Liverpool mightn't be the most metropolitan city in the world but it's not Baghdad.

    Probably right, unfortunately.

Just thought I'd throw it up a couple of months ago as I was 1) bored and 2) I was tired of people pissing and moaning at the club's targets, but were equally unwilling to mention players they'd like signed, but on the odd occasion they did, it was something beyond daft like wanting the club to bid 40M+ on Hulk! :)

A couple of the black bolded names, I'd be absolutely fecking delighted.

Missed bolding Godin's name, by the by, though it's unlikely.

Would Suarez and Gerard not be on more or the same as ozil?

Think ozil is 140k a week.

Very top end of the pay scale, reserved for Gerrard, Suarez and Torres when he left. Basically Liverpool wont sign anybody on that type of wage, Suarez was on something like 40k when he joined, you have to earn your 140k over a few seasons with us!

Oh Johnson is reportedly on over 100k, so you can see why that's a policy!

I find it pretty damned exciting.

Granted, the last time we had 130m odd to spend it was a catastrophe but I trust Bren and the lads a lot more than Commolli. And the risk isn't what it was then either because we're building on top of quality, instead of muck.

Lallana, while maybe overpriced, feels like he'll be good at this level. It's as safe a signing as you're going to get and I feel that the extra cash is worth it for the relatively guaranteed quality. He mightn't hit the heights of some precocious tiny latin fella but he feels like he's going to be solid.

Markovich (assuming things go to plan and he signs in the next couple of days) looks a serious prospect. Pace, dribbling, work rate. Rodgers can work wonders with that mix, as we've already seen.

Can is a safe bet for the money we're paying. He already looks like he'll be more useful than Lucas and there looks like there's a lot of potential there.

Lambert is a classy footballer and again, it's a cheap short term option. Think of him as an upgrade on Aspas.

Origi is something to sit on the back burner until next season.

    So that's 70m quid's worth and that's with 3 more signings we're looking at - another 15-20m CB, a 10-15m LB and a 25m+ attacker.

If we pull through on those last 3 signigns (and they're actually worth the sort of money we've looked like spending on them) that's as exciting a transfer window as we've had in my lifetime.

I enjoyed watching Liverpool games so much last season because of the style of play. Marcovich I only know from clips but he's quick and if he can keep the energy up for 90mins he'll be perfect for the system. I really want to see the team steamroller games in the first 20mins again and he's that type of player.

Lallana I enjoyed when I saw him, didn't he have that great move and hit the post v us? No issues signing him.

Main thing missing now is the goals. I want Huntelaar more than anybody else, he'd bang them in.

My concern is that we are not supplementing these players with winners. None of them have done anything of note in the game. They might turn out to be great in a few years and that's fine but it's no good when we're looking to cement our place in the CL.

Markovic & Lallana will cost us the guts of 40M...I believe that could be better spent elsewhere. Maybe we've tried but been unsuccessful. These players will be coming to the club in awe of players around them, fawning over Gerrard etc I want players to join that our existing players in will be in awe of. Imagine Kroos or Muller or Hummels or a player of that ilk walking into the dressing room and the reaction of everyone.

Now I know it's early and we might buy big in the coming months, but it just seems deja vu to me.

Just need to be linked with Depay to check of last summer's wing forward wish list now \o/

25M is a snip given his talent. In 2-3 years time, he very well could go for double that.

Well he's certainly fond of the Cruyff turn.

More pace than I assumed as well. Not the sort to burn past superfast full backs but it's pace on the ball which is even better.

John__Percy #lfc are considering a bid for Swansea left-back Ben Davies after making an inquiry this week. #thfc also remain interested

If we keep bidding for full backs between now and August 31st I'm pretty sure we will get one in the end.
