Very happy with the clubs transfter dealings so far. Markovic and Origi have huge potential and i really think they'll both turn out to be top clas players within a year or 2, Markovic in particular im very happy with.

Seems like we're playing hard ball over Suarez too which is great to see, as a lot of the twatter itk's  said the deal would be completed last week, so Ayre is doing well holding out as it looks like we want the money up front, and only up front so lets see what Barca do now !!

Don't think its hardball, Barca are waiting for the Sanchez deal to be completed with Arsenal thats all.

75 million was the release clause which has been met by all accounts.

If our signings so far are considered to be squad strengthening then brilliant, but we need 1 or 2 players in that you would look at and think - "yep hes going to go straight into the first team and improve us".

So far, none of the signings you can say that for bar possibly Lallana but even that's a bit of a stretch. We are losing our best player and the starting 11 is weaker whichever way you look at it currently. Its impossible to replace Suarez with a like for like standard, but we haven't replaced one of last seasons first 11 yet.

No hard ball being played...Barca medical team went to check Neymar first.

If Lazar signs I would love if he put "Pew-Pew" on the back of his jersey

He's not a bad player, but I really don't know if he will fit into the squad. He is a good goalscorer but I reckon theres better out there for £20mill

Talk of Sevilla bidding €6M for Aspas

His corners are worth at least 5.25M Rupees

Shame that, had hoped he would get the iconic number 7 this season.

Looks as if someone has slipped up on the FCB site.

If it's true then we can forget about Suarez and Sanchez for good now and look into other avenues.

Yep, Sanchez deal is as good as done. Surprised at the fee, I would definitely have had him here for that money.

So would the club but if he doesn't want to live north of the Watford Gap not much else can be done.

It's safe to say a lot of us wanted Sanchez but he clearly had no interest in living in Liverpool so there's not much more the club can do really.

Do you guys really believe that the Sanchez deal was all about living in London rather that Liverpool? I'd guess the decision was a bit more football related than you guys would like to believe.

Either way it's his call and he's not interested. Fair enough! if he's not interested I don't want him

Nah, sure he'll be lifting trophies in May.

What were you guys doing last May?

I have to agree with you to be honest. One season back in the champions league and selling our top player can't be considered as attractive to how consistently Arsenal have been playing CL football

    How bout you guys?

Actually competing for the league rather than 4th

Tony Barrett and a few others have said that is what Liverpool were told.

Not sure what the football related part would be? Arsenal still have win a 2 legged tie to even get into the Champions League.

Give them £40m for the lols.

Compared the squads and managers and it's easy to see why Sanchez would choose Arsenal *

    *based on Suarez leaving too.

Yes the squads where one finished 2nd and one finished 4th.

    Incomparable.

Who knows apart from a few key people.

Perhaps Liverpool wouldn't pay enough. Perhaps Sanchez wanted to live in London or he might have always wanted to work with Wenger...

It's disappointing from a Liverpool point of view as Arsenal are strengthening and Liverpool losing their star player.

Apparently BVB are after Origi also.

This may not end well for us

Arsenal won their first throphy in years. That won't give Wenger much breathing room if (when) the usual run of bad games kicks in.

They'll be calling for his head in no time.

I definitely agree with you on this one.

    1) Wenger is proven - Rodgers far, far less so by comparison.

    2) Question marks about how Liverpool will fare with the CL and league whereas last season they had just the league.

    3) Unsure how Liverpool will cope without Suarez - Arsenal have shown they can cope with losing their best players and still safely qualify for the CL.

    4) Arsenal's squad does look better atm imo. Taking Suarez away and adding Sanchez to Arsenal really has that see-saw effect imo.

    I'm Dortmund head scout.

Still think Liverpool will sign him, the lad is just being a tad cautious as clearly doesn't want to be going to loan season by season and/or stuck on the bench, can understand that.

They still have tiny little balls. Which means they collapse whenever they're tested.

How many of the 5 goals that Liverpool scored against Arsenal a few months ago did Suarez score again..?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

If you exclude all Suarez's PL goals last season we still scored more than everyone bar City and Chelsea (and Chelsea would only have one more).

That's all well and good but Arsenal have only won one trophy in the past 9 years.

And they made a serious attempt at making a balls of that one too.

Not having a pop at you, but they collapsed in fairly spectacular fashion.

    Too hard.

Yeah 1 defeat in 19 league games was spectacular.
