I was lucky enough to see him in the flesh and scoring goals.
The best Liverpool player of my lifetime and possibly the most talented player to ever wear the shirt.

    It was an absolute privilege.

Why do people listen to Ballague, right or wrong, he's wrong

Of course he's going to say Barca got a great deal. He likes his buttered bread.

Sad day for Liverpool, Suarez was a joy to watch. I just hope we re-invest in quality.

This isnt comparable to Torres leaving as he was on the decline. Suarez is on a different level to him.

Just under £65m according to Balague. Sky news have something similar I think but still a few different ones being reported

The clue is in the name with that fella ;)

I guess we are back to last summer

All the chat in here last year was about who everyone else had signed and how we'd be left behind, and in January how we had no chance of finishing in the top 4 because Liverpool made no signing, how did that work out again...

There's a lot of transfer window left and a whole season of football to be played, relax. Only time will tell what kind of season we'll have.

Judging by our previous record in the transfer market I wouldn't have to much confidence in that.

He also said this which makes no sense.

Makes perfect sense if you support another club really want to believe the lower figure.

Anyway so long to the best player to ever grace the league.

No offence, but I'm laughing at your suggestion that it should be.

Why shouldn't it be? He's now a Barcelona player. That's the end of it. I just want to know how much money we've gotten for him and see who Rodgers brings in. I follow Liverpool, not Suarez.

    Lols to people quoting Balague.
Barrett - "#Suarez sale will earn #LFC about £75 million for a player whom they signed for £22.8 million in January 2011"

If you think that you're gutted, imagine how Gerrard feels right now.

Poor bastard is never winning a league.

You were probably dancing in the street when Doni left.

The thing about this transfer that I like, it went pretty smoothly and mainly behind closed doors.
There was lots of speculation along the way, but from our perspective, we handled things right.
The one blot would be the FCB prez coming out in the media early with some quotes about Suarez.

Hopefully, the clubs have come away from this happy and will be willing to do business in the future.

So we made over £50m profit on him......meh, I'd rather have him at the club for another 2-3 seasons.

Plus I don't trust the club to spend the money wisely, we'll end up buying a couple of bogeys for sure!

Puts into perspective what a great deal that was at the time. £50m for an injury prone out of form Torres compared with £75m for Suarez now over 3 years later. Liverpool in a better position now than then also

£75m plus 200k a week wages that can be used to pay probably two top quality players wages.

Gutted today we lose Suarez, Chelsea have gained Costa and Cesc , Arsenal have Sanchez who do we sign Lambert we are a joke of club have we learnt nothing from the past years. It will be an even longer way back to the summit.

Has the window closed or Something? I mean this in the most respectable way, but sir, please get a grip. :)

At a minimum, he's in the Top 10 players to EVER play for the club.

He's unbelievable at the most difficult part of the game. Scoring and creating chances, yet he bursts his balls chasing down everything as if he was a fan pulled from the kop and asked to help out.

In short, he's incredible, an absolute rarity, and despite all the controversy, I feel privileged to have watched him play in a Liverpool shirt.

So long, you mental, genius bastard.

That was originally about Ronaldo leaving Utd, it's been brought up again as it's probably more apt now.

24 hours after Sanchez being annouced by Arsenal, we annouce Suarez is now leaving. If this is followed by us signing Bony i think il lose it. You just knew when we signed carroll it was a disaster , Bony would be an incredibly poor replacement for Suarez. Surely We have a top CL player lined up

Big loss to Liverpool, and a big loss to the Premiership imo

Need to get a great attacker in now... no to Benzema !!!!

Name another striker who would be better than Bony and is a realistic target. i.e. not Benzema?

I've been wracking my brains, I can't think of one.

    A girl I know is a big LFC/Barca fan.

She doesn't know if she's coming or going.
    Then she is definitely going.

She would surely know when she is coming:D

Everyone is a step down from Suarez.

I think the club are trying to do the right thing by bringing in more players to boost the ranks first.

If we spunked all the cash on a big name now we'd still have a very small squad for 4 comps

Wilfred Bony would score plenty of goals for us if we can bring him in.

OK. I'm just gonna say this and to hell with the consequences.

Does my bum look big in this?

Seriously though. I'm worried for next season. I know we've parted ways with a volitile piece of real estate. But there's just no replacing him. We better have replaced him with a clone or something.

When Suarez inevitably wins World Player of The Year at some point in the next few years, we will probably look back and think it's slightly unreal that he ever actually played for us.

He is going to go to stratospheric levels now.
