he did not score even score in this game but played and tore united apart. i knew we had someone really special at our club after that match.

    also dirk kuyt hat-trick :D

Without a doubt will continue supporting him as a player. Probably my most favourite player to watch on the pitch...just hope he doesn't become overshadowed by Messi/Neymar at Messi FC.

You think he might get overshadowed by Neymar? From what I've seen it looks like Suarez is twice the player Neymar is

Must be the hat-trick with collectively the fewest number of yards from goal for the shots.

That's true. Didn't doubt he'd be good, world class even, but the last season was pretty special. I really hope he signs for Ajax after Barcelona for a few twilight seasons!

Thats exactly why I won't moan about the transfers . Right now LFC are trying to build and if letting Suarez go is the thing that pushes this building process through then so be it .
I have said before it's a good thing to build a team around Sturrigde because at the end of the day if he becomes a 25 - 30 a season striker no team in england can try and sign . Man City won't because of the way he left . Chelsea won't because I don't think he would play for them again . Man utd won't sign him because the clubs won't sell each a virus . LFC won't sell to Arsenal if they view them as a main contender for a top four finish .
It is a sad day to see a great player go but onwards and upwards .

Lucas is also on his way out apparently. He's removed "LFC Player" from his twitter bio and also unfollowed the LFC twitter account...surely means he's headed for the exit?

Will miss Lucas if he is going. Shame that injuries kept him out of the squad for so long.

So is Can a replacement for Lucas directly?

He'll be missed as a personality I'm sure, and remembered for his yellow card-receiving consistency.

Can never fault his attitude and dedication. See some people tweeting him hate on twitter, which is in no way they should treat him.

I'm guessing Can must be a direct replacement, unless Rodgers is eyeing up another signing? Bender maybe? pls Rodgers

In fairness I don't think he'll be missed, was brilliant for a season or two but he's been poor enough since Brendan took charge, the injuries didn't help of course.

For all the goals, I'll always remember that shot against Arsenal, 2-0 up inside what? 10 minutes? I've never been so dumbfounded by a footballer in my life! Hell every single player barring the helpless Arsenal keeper stood motionless, just ball watching. I still don't know to this day how the guy never lost his balance, just got on with play as if nothing happened! November and December was something else, unplayable and unmarkable, we'll never see the like again, but WOW, I'll remember that shot till the day I die!

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

Would've been goal of the year easy. I still wish it went in, almost as much as Carra's strike against QPR in his final game

Going to be honest, I'm already hoping we draw Barcelona in the Champions League :pac:

Group stage or knock rounds, I'm not too fussed, though I'd probably lean towards the knock out rounds.

If Lucas is indeed off, I'll wish him nothing but the best of luck. Always came across as a good guy. His performances vs Man U at Old Tratford and Anfield, vs Inter Milan in the Champions League, Chelsea a couple of times and particularly the one against Man City in which he totally owned Man City's midfield. Shame injuries were becoming more common with him, especially when he was at his peak for us in 2010/2011.

Speaking of Inter, the Daily Fail are linking him with a move to them.

Probably best for both parties. With Gerrard, Henderson, Lallana, Can and Allen, Lucas might have entered the season as 6th choice in midfield.

This way he gets to play more regularly somewhere else and we might even get a decent fee for him to add to the transfer kitty.

Why would he unfollow LFC's twitter.
Did he defriend us on Facebook too?

I really will be sad to see Lucas go, he was bought for 5.5 mill if i remember rightly and always tried his best on the pitch, he was just unlucky with his injuries.

If this hadn't been posted it's what I was going to say. That and the header from 20 yards vs West Brom got the biggest roar from me last season I'd say in terms of "I can't believe that happened". The bitey genius will be much missed. I hope if he is ever back he won't be booed.

I think I mentioned it on here before but during that Arsenal game, when the 4th went in I think,I started laughing my head off. Couldn't believe what was happening. Wife heard me and came into the sitting room and said "I thought you were watching football...what's so funny?" All I could say was "This game is mental" and kept laughing.

    1. If they could have I'd say they would have by now or they just don't rate him and are happy for us to blow 25 mil on him (euros or sterling - not sure which)

    2. Even Ayre and company surely wouldn't be dumb enough to leak it to various LFC friendly journalists that the deal is all but done when Chelsea could still effectively block it

Was just thinking that myself yesterday.

@donfers, didn't they leave it very late in the day to sting Spurs over Willian?

Liverpool Football Club are pleased to announce that seven Academy-based players have signed professional contracts.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux and defender Kevin Stewart have signed after leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

The pair join playmaker Sergi Canos, defensive midfielder Pedro Chirivella and Wales winger Harry Wilson in penning deals.

Academy duo Jordan Williams and Sheyi Ojo, meanwhile, are signing their new contracts today.

seen a few people on here saying how excited they are by Liverpools attacking line up next season even without Suarez.

Can I ask, how many of you genuinely see this Markovich lad play? Il be honest in that I've never seen him kick a ball apart from watching some youtube videos of him since the news broke. Even the videos didn't get me overly excited.

I still can't see past his 5 goals in a poor league last season. Lambert and Borini aren't going to win you titles and we can't rely on Sturridge for an entire season with added Champions league matches in between.

Apparently Chelsea have a first refusal option at around half what we're paying

Unless he has a medical card...I haven't thought this through. Continue on :o

Thats the word on the street, something alone the lines of 12.5 million.

Although we dont really need him right now, he'd be swalloed up and sold after paying about 6 games for us and 3 years on loan somewhere.

I cant see us coming in for him anytime soon but if Lukaku decides hes off that might change.

Who's to say it was a deliberate leak by the club? It doesn't benefit them to make their confidence known or have someone publicize that they've made a bid even if Chelsea were totally powerless. Yet we're all aware of it.

Hope we sign a big name, all good and well buying young players in the hope they come up good like Coutinho, but id still like an exciting name to come in this summer, with Aspas and Suarez we're left with Borini, Rickie and Daniel as our front players, we're gonna need more than that with CL and that imo

    Carrying Suarez's bags??

if arsenal are getting sanchez then why don't we get in there and gazump them for their long-time target draxler?

Also haven't heard a lot of noise on Bolasie lately - could do worse and would be cheaper than most but then again he could be another flavour of the month type signing.

All in all not looking good at the moment on the transfer front but long way to go

lose suarez, miss out on most important target who goes to another team and sign players who are not exactly marquee names and whom we could have attracted anyway.

We have cash, we are in the CL and Rodgers has stated publically that he wants to sign players to start - bearing in mind all of this our transfer business thus far has been underwhelming.

Hopefully we aren't going to repeat the mistakes of the last two times we came second and screw up in the market that summer and suffer the following season.

I think that Sanchez is going to end up at Juve. Talks of them offloading Pogba to make it happen.
Apparently the Suarez deal depends on Barca selling Sanchez as we want the amount paid in full upfront.

Draxler signed a new contract last year, he's supposed to be really happy where he is.
