He was also too far over, if he had been closer to the middle of the goal it would have been an easy save, really poor goal keeping imo.

You can see it coming all you want but you still have to cover the other 90% of the goal in the eventuality he doesn't go for that same area. If a free kick from that distance is good enough it's going to go in, and Messi's was excellent

It would have been far more difficult to hit the target if he went for the other side of the goal due to the wall. Keeper doesn't have to leave the other side of the goal open in order to predict where the ball is going to go, as it was he half arsed his way to a save and watched the ball go past him.

Not saying it wasn't a great free kick but the keeper should be doing better.

He was in the right place, the wall covering that side, him covering the far side. Standing in the middle covers neither.
