    AFC North

    madden-ratings-bengals.jpg

The Bengals have plenty of potential this year. QB Andy Dalton has some big targets in AJ Green, Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert. Their backfield is young and exciting with Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill, a second-round pick who is expected to contribute right away. Defense is really where the Bengals show out in Madden NFL 15. Their D-line is anchored by big Geno Atkins, while Rey Maualuga and Vontaze Burfict lead a solid linebacking corps. First-round pick Darqueze Dennard gets his shot alongside Reggie Nelson and the rest of a talented defensive backfield.

    madden-ratings-ravens.jpg

The addition of Steve Smith gives Joe Flacco an added weapon at WR, but is that enough for the Ravens’ offense to flourish in Madden 15? Their defense shouldn’t need to answer any such questions. John Harbaugh’s young 3-4 D looks like a problem for opposing offenses this year with Terrell Suggs, CJ Mosley, Daryl Smith and Elvis Dumervil at LB. That young secondary should also be much better with another year of experience under their belt. And don’t forget about Jacoby Jones at KR/PR!

    madden-ratings-steelers.jpg

Big Ben doesn’t get much help at WR this year with the exception of Antonio Brown, so he’ll need Heath Miller to come up big. The Steelers backfield is a dangerous mix of speed and power with Le’Veon Bell, LeGarrett Blount and Kent State rookie Dri Archer. Their defense, led by veteran Troy Polamalu, should be solid this year with some young guys getting more reps.

    madden-ratings-browns.jpg

Let’s address the elephant in the room right away – Johnny Football potentially adds immediate excitement to this Browns offense. To make Manziel’s (or incumbent starter Brian Hoyer) life easier, the Browns added WR’s Miles Austin and Nate Burleson along with RB Ben Tate. On defense, the Browns secondary looks like a No Fly Zone. The Dawg Pound added Donte Whitner and rookie Justin Gilbert to complement All-Pro CB “Lockdown Joe” Haden.

    NFC North
    madden-ratings-packers.jpg

The Packers have an elite offense led by one of the best gunslingers around, Aaron Rodgers. WR’s Jordy Nelson and Randal Cobb will contribute to plenty of “Discount Double Checks” this season. To top it all off, the Pack’s backfield is absolutely diesel with Eddie Lacy, James Starks and John Kuhn. As for defense, Green Bay added sack master Julius Peppers to complement BJ Raji, AJ Hawk and Clay Matthews amongst others. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was a solid draft pick after losing Charles Woodson in the offseason.

    madden-ratings-bears.jpg

QB Jay Cutler (health permitting) has weapons all over the place. Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and tight end Martellus Bennett are a size advantage against anybody. On the ground, Matt Forte is a top-five running back. On the other side of the ball, the Bears added some relentless pass-rushing in Jared Allen. MLB Jon Bostic should have a breakout season alongside veteran Lance Briggs and might even have some Bears fans forgetting about Urlacher for a little. Michael Ford and Eric Weems can be a dangerous duo on the return team as well.

    madden-ratings-lions.jpg

If Jay Cutler is happy about his pass-catching weapons this season, then Matthew Stafford has to be ecstatic. His new-and-improved arsenal includes rookie Eric Ebron and Brandon Pettigrew at TE to go with Megatron, Golden Tate and Ryan Broyles at WR. On the ground, Detroit’s in good shape with Reggie Bush and Joique Bell. We might need to rename Motor City to “Mismatch City.” On defense, that tandem of Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh at DT is downright unfair.

    madden-ratings-vikings.jpg

If you enjoy having options at QB, then the Vikings are the team for you. Matt Cassel, Christian Ponder and Teddy Bridgewater are all solid options under center. Greg Jennings, Jerome Simpson and potential breakout Cordarrelle Patterson make up a talented receiving corps while Kyle Rudolph holds it down at TE. Did we forget someone on offense? Some guy named AP can carry the load All Day if the passing game isn’t working for you. Defense is where the Vikings leave some room to be desired. They have some young talent in Sharrif Floyd and Xavier Rhodes. plus a proven leader in Chad Greenway. However, they’ll need work this season against some potent NFC North offenses.

Looking at the ratings, the Jets could be a decent sleeper team this year.

Cracking defense including an exceptional D-line in a 3-4 formation, Milliner should be easy enough to progress with XP at CB and you have Pryor at S. On offense, Geno should be easy to progress and there's also Vick, there's Decker who is a legit threat at WR, Amaro at TE and Johnson and Ivory make an extremely good Madden 1-2 at RB.

The main thing against them is probably the division. With only the Patriots likely to be selected as a human team, the Jets could be overlooked by people searching for more human populated divisions.

Anything that can make me someway cocompetent at drafting, nah?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

I'm not all that enthralled by that video.

They've essentially just added a confidence attribute, which was there previously as hot and cold streaks anyway, and enhanced it.

Game prep and individual training wouldn't do a whole lot for me as I certainly won't have the time to do it with a number of different players a gameweek and the game prep aspect looks like something that will get extremely boring after 3 or 4 weeks. I can see most eventually ending up skipping it.

They're announced as the big changes which is disappointing IMO.

On a more positive note, the free agency design, change in the method of buying XP and random draft classes are nice additions but they're nothing groundbreaking and including them is just catching up to something that should have been in the game years ago.

Multiple commissioners may be handy for our league (as long as Raoul doesn't get his hands on the advancements :pac:)

"The simulation engine now includes things like consistency, confidence and development. In Madden 15, young players with great development traits will have slightly better “simmed” stats than normal. This allows great young players to progress quickly and become stars in the league." - Eh, they do already don't they? First and second round draft picks in particular, regardless, progress ridiculously quickly.

    Overall - meh.

No mention to see if they fixed auto subs for online franchises. It was rare that backups came in, it sort of took away the purpose of them.

Are we running a coach league or owner league this year?

I've ordered mine from Gamesnash.ie the last couple of years (got GTA V off them too). Always a very good service, I received my game from them on release day and it's easier than having to pop into town for it where often game stores don't have much stock of Madden in and I might get unlucky on the day and have to go home empty-handed.

As Heli mentioned above, they did us a deal last year which resulted in getting it a couple of euro cheaper than elsewhere (it was €52.99, Gamestop etc were charging €59.99 for it in their stores from what I experienced) and they threw in a cool footballer 8GB memory stick into the order which has come in handy and served me well over the past year too.

I'm sure Pat, the Boards rep, will pop in when he gets Heli's PM, but I'll be using Gamesnash anyway provided they're stocking it (I can't see it on their website as of yet).

Detailed look at Connected Franchise from the developers/designers. The quality of the video is not that good, though my internet connection might be to blame for me saying that!

FFS, the Madden demo has been scrapped for all except those with EA Access and it won't be available for them until a week before the game is released.

    That's really disappointing.

We'll all still buy it, but I wonder if they're trying to hide something?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 21,693 Mod ✭✭✭✭helimachoptor

Yeah it really baffles me, it sounds like they made a major mistake in some way and are scrambling to fix it

Can't believe they scrapped the demo, such a disappointment. I'll be getting a review copy of Madden so at least I'll have it earlier than you peasants :p

Only since recently. I'm working at balls.ie and the PR company who handle EA Sports send us games to review for them, my FIFA 15 preview went up today and its the first one I've done.

I read that earlier and never knew it was you who wrote it. Fair play mate, it's a niece piece of work and an enjoyable read. Did you travel over to meet with Sebastian?

RE: the Madden review. Since EA are giving a review copy early, do you feel you will be under pressure to give the game a good review and/or not put too much emphasis on any negatives that arise regardless of how it plays? I've noticed from reading other early reviews that they mostly tend to do this as they appear not to want to "bite the hand that feeds them" for want of a better phrase.

Thanks man. Yeah I got to go over for a day trip to EA Guildford last month to play FIFA 15 and interview Sebastian. Was class.

With the likes of Madden I won't be doing much, maybe a quick review. EA Sponsor us as well so we don't want to be trashing their games, but thankfully so far on next gen I wouldn't need to. But I couldn't go into the detail I went into on FIFA with Madden because our reader base just wouldnt be interested.

Xbox One? If thats what you meant then yes, don't have a PS4 yet so only have Xbox One version and have heard nothing on the 360 version, but I never play my 360 anymore anyway.

There's more and more videos creeping up on YouTube of Madden 15 now.

The Game Changer guys also got their games before the weekend and the Season Ticket is out in the USA on Thursday so we should know virtually everything by this time next week.
