Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

His form wasnt good but he's still young. He has all the attributes to be a world beater. RTE had not a clue about him before this tournament. The researchers on the production team might of been able to dig out some snippets from the UCL matches they covered and gave them some lines to say about the player but the boys are continually found wanting when it comes football outside of the EPL.

Agree with ya, man. My comment should be taken as a compliment really that I really thought he'd have the world in his hands already, that's how much I thought of his talent. Better late than never anyway, and like you said, he's still very young. 21 or 22 if I'm not mistaken.

I don't have RTE over here, but I wouldn't be taking them seriously except for Didi and Sandlier anyway.

    Is Cavani seriously over rated?

Suarez is a big loss - surely if he was playing, he would have bit Rodriguez just before he scored that goal.

What did Dunphy base his "Columbia are no good Bill" argument on?

Uruguay seriously lacking some bite here. The need to get their teeth into this one.

Wow nearly spoke too soon there. Some shot that.

Im going to bet it had something to do with not having a clue who 99% of the team were and being vaguely aware that one of the players used to play for Southampton but now plays for lowly Monaco in a poor league

    this team should do Brazil.

He picked out a few passages of play where Columbia gave the ball away to indicate that Colombia are naive.

I hate when they do that. Firstly all teams give the ball away; secondly adventurous teams give the ball away more often because they are trying risky passes and dribbles. They criticise teams who play too defensively and safe; but if a team plays football the right way they criticise when a risky pass goes astray. It's annoying.

Probably by some, seriously under rated by others.

    Great ball that by him

Time to pick it up Uruguay

Loving all the close ups of that blonde girl :pac:

Colombia look a bit suspect at the back so I don't think they'll be serious contenders for the competition but going forward they're the best in the competition, really exciting to watch. Just adds to the disappointment over Falcao missing the tournament, with him leading the line they'd be next to unstoppable

Still can't get my head around these clowns who are seeing their team crash out of the World Cup, yet cheer up when they're on the big screen.

Stunned when I saw them. PP do a free bet offer to match some bets like that I think so was going to put on one or two Euro at 8/1 or something... but SEVENTEEN!? Had to be done. :D

7/2 for him to score and the to win when they were about evens to win themselves and no Suarez was insane also.

I'm despairing for my cards bet, since the ref has lost them, but I suppose with Uruguay there is always hope they will go nuts and have a few insane tackles in the last ten minutes

It's their diamond-in-the-rough, maybe? Jesus, their team is losing and you're begrudging them just a little bit of entertainment?

Good effort by Lugano getting booked while injured on the bench

Bit more hustle from the rest of ye would be appreciated :)

Card for Lugano, nice, a thoroughly unlikeable player.

It's happened once in 4 games other teams have got dodgy decisions as well. This happens in every game of football when the home team is involved the crowd roar for decisions. Their has been no evidence of Brazil receiving a glut of favourable decisions but it's been constantly mentioned.

That penalty was absolutely ridiculous so it's easy to see how people have the perception that they are being helped by the refs, it just shows certain refs can be swayed by a hometown crowd, I don't think they are good enough to win it anyway, regardless of how much help they get from the refs.

Dreadful tackle. Glad to see Uruguay going home. They're very defensive, and overly physical. They just try to grind teams down

This Uruguay side remind me of the Dutch in the last World Cup Final.

    Negative and dirty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,363 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Uruguay just don't have the creative players Colombia have.

    It's as simple as that.
