Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It changes your point a bit. You tried to make it sound like it all happened last after kick off.

Sorry, you lost me there. Kick off? I didn't mean within a minute of kick off. I meant the incidents happened within a minute of each other. That was an exaggeration though all the same, it was a bit more than a minute :)

Ooooh "cooling break". An actual good idea :) How did FIFA ever think Qatar would work :pac:

    ITV not showing ads BTW.

Holland maybe reserving themselves for the second half
I have a feeling they're doing that alright, especially in that heat.

    It's looking that way.

Very dangerous ploy though especially with Jasper looking a tad ricketty in goal.

Maybe this uisce break will perk them up a bit.

Didn't take them long to turn the cooling break into an ad break opportunity. Think the TV companies might look to make this permanent. :(

Drinks break me arse. I want to see an ice cream van make it's way into the centre circle.

It's the 2 systems cancelling each other out rather than the heat ruining it. Robben and RVP aren't getting space.

Would they do it on a wet night in Stoke though.

There was talks about having them during the World Cup in the US.

American TV execs are getting ideas...

"Cooling breaks! That's what we need!"

"But, sir, it's the middle of Winter. Real Yellowknife plays it's games in sub zero weather. The gatorade will freeze solid!.

    *Advertising exec clicks gun*

"I don't think you heard the man..."

This is nothing compared to what it will be like in Qatar, potentially good games will be ruined because of high temperatures on the pitch

I'd imagine the near 40 degree heat is a factor in the way both teams are playing.

    Its like a testimonial

Bill said it was 32...39 degrees is a whole different kettle of fish. Madness.

The 39 is the pitch side, not in shade inaccurate temperature.

The 32 would be correct official temp.

Absolutely baking by the looks of it, both teams already looking very very leggy! One goal might win this!

The matches in Qatar will be shíte, players will be walking around for 90 minutes & probably 2 water breaks a half!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,951 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

C'mon lads.. it's crazy hot out there. It's 3 mins FFS. Games get stopped longer than that all the time because of injuries/arguments etc

As long as it doesn't become the norm then I wouldn't see anything wrong with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,370 ✭✭✭✭Son Of A Vidic

Looking at that drinks break reminds me. How in God's name did FIFA think they could hold a World Cup in Qatar? Oh wait I forgot.........the envelopes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Cant wait to see what state the players are in if/when it goes to extra-time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

    Stands look really empty.

It does seem odd that they didn't just have the games in the evening when it would be cooler. Even if you're thinking of the European audiences, pushing back both games 2 hours isn't that bad surely? The second game may be a bit late for eastern Europe but at least the players wouldn't be playing in that heat.

Spot on! The players will have serious issues playing in that kinda heat

Probably said already but WCs in extreme temps make sense now - justifiable ad breaks...:(

I like imagining Magath refusing to let his team drink during in a drinks break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,951 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

Will Qatar actually happen though? What with the heat, the stories about the conditions the migrant workers are being forced to work in etc..

Could it be cancelled and moved elsewhere or is it a rock solid deal?

If a testimonial was being played at this pace, you wouldn't be surprised to see people asking for their money back.

Jasus you're right, hadn't noticed. WTF is up with that. Despite the heat, surely Holland vs Mexico would be a huge draw.

    EDIT: Paully D explained :)

I still don't think it will be held there at all, but that's for another day.

How many times has Collins mentioned the words 'cooling break' now?

I'd rather watch adverts than listen to Chiles and the rest talk nonsense. A break in this heat is definitely necessary.
