Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nearly sure they were in it before.

I thought Bosnia were the only rookies this year.

You're right in fact : they have competed in three previous tournaments (must have confused them with someone else)

No, Italia 90 was their Italia 90.

    Thought so myself

Bet on Costa Rica at 90 mins to qualify at 15/8. Only bet €8 but still satisfying after betting on Chile to win on pens yesterday at 90mins at 5/2. :p

Great start to the knockout rounds after the best group stages possibly ever. Football hasn't always been top class but the drama has more than compensated. If the final 10 (11 with 3rd place playoff) matches continue this will almost certainly have to be the hands down best WC, or at least in the top few, ever. Great recovery from arguably the worst ever in 2010.

Indeed it was : though they're undergoing 'our' Italia 90 only now....they should be meeting Italy in the quarter final instead of Holland :D

They're just being efficient, got Italy out of the way early on :pac:

"The lads have done well" to spout a football cliche....survived the group of death and are now in the quarters :)

Unforgiving is on? Whopper. Haven't seen this in at least 10 years, been meaning to see it again for ages now.

I thought Gekas should have gotten a retake, keeper was well off his line

Very possibly : he was moving all over the place and saved it as if he was saving a shot from open play.

Nope, they infamously beat Scotland in Italia 90.

Think navas timed it to the margin acceptable to the ref. Technically speaking all penalties should have been retaken.

Tweets are the wrong way round, but I thought I'd include the second one for the Irish reference.

    Glad Greece are out.

Someone said it's only the second time in World Cup history that a team scored 5 out of 5 in a shoot out

    The first: Genoa 1990

Is that true?? Even allowing for the fact that most shoot-outs don't get as far as 5 pens each, that's still a mad stat if true.

Didn't Italy score all of theirs in the 06 final?

Coata Rica looked less energetic than they were in group games even with 11 men. They'll be wrecked for dutch game. I just hope they don't get hammered, they've been great for the tournament.

Agree 100%.He was a mile out from his line.Couln'nt believe thats its not being picked up by anyone, including Dunphy and the others last night.

Compared to Huntelaars penalty on Ochoa yesterday, the Mexican keeper stayed on his line.

10 years of hurt for Greece continues.

just watched a replay of all the penalties, and they're all like that tbh (both teams)
