Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Awful effort by Drmic. There was no-one near him.

    Romero was very lucky.

What a chance! What was he at trying the chip.

Drmic went for the Hollywood finish when he should have just put his foot through it.

He tried to do a Messi!

The lesser quality teams just can't finish their chances. Argentina will sneak through this purely because the Swiss won't take their chances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

What in the fook was that finish?

Did Pearce just say he should have put a skirt on?

Worst attempted shot of the tournament.

Like Argentina's previous games in the tournament I'm sure Messi will be the difference come 90 minutes.

Higuain is having an awful tournament.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,361 ✭✭✭Boskowski

I like the way the Swiss are playing this. They are inferior to Argentina and they have the added Messi problem. They're dealing with both very well. And they're not even parking the bus or anything.
You feel that class will probably prevail but they might have a very real chance here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Do you remember a time when the World Cup was crawling with goals and teams didn't give a flying fúck about defending?

    Pepperidge Farm remembers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,156 ✭✭✭DubDani

So far all the group winners have made it through, but except for Columbia none of them had a convincing game. Very tight tournament, and IMO no clear favourite at all right now.

Argentina are very vulnerable on the counter attack. Surprising considering they have two holding/defensive midfielders.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

It's not exciting but Switzerland have set up very well. They've had the best chances.

Di Maria looking good so far.

In a world cup match against arguably the world cup favourites, for a player of any age or experience to be so stupid as to try the Hollywood is complete idiocy when it would have been more pragmatic to just run a bit further perhaps and just shoot.

Strange. He was great any time I saw him for Napoli this season.

Quality analysis from the pundits, emphysema down the mic, billo away with the fairies, dunphy without a f*ckin breeze what the clip they are playing is supposed to be emphasising

F**k off Donal Skehan, and tell that auld one that a tomato from Ireland doesn't smell any different the a tomato from anywhere else, the feckin' bint!

Why in the hell do they insist on pushing that programme non stop during football? It's awful audience targeting, unless you expect Erin McLove fans to be a primary demographic for the World Cup.

You are aware you don't have to watch it right?

Richie nails it, again. Only moments from Messi for the most part, but that's all they've had going for then in this tournament. Great players individually but as a whole, for all of them including Messi, it just isn't coming together outside of those moments.

  • Registered Users Posts: 149 ✭✭Biddy_61

Why is it that when taking a corner they can't beat the first man and when in front of goal they hit the ball 50 feet over the bar???

I see the manager shouting at Lavezzi again at that throw in. If he is not careful he could be blasted with piss this time :pac:

Surely Argentina have a better midfielder than Gago? He offers absouletly nothing at all.

They do, but he's not in the squad.

He's not alone. Messi and Di Maria aside the Argies havent set the world alight by any means

We hardly needed Sadlier to tell us that in fairness.

If the Swiss are knocked out then Drmic who is only a young player will probably carry the can which would be harsh but fact is that the Argies are well beatable today. They were well beatable against Iran and both Nigeria and Bosnia made them look very ordinary.

    Di Maria.... You clown.

That was silly from Di Maria after beating his man.

You would probably be surprised how much I've heard people calling Messi player of the tournament, flawless so far, then.

School yard carry on from Di Maria with that attempt at a cross.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,219 ✭✭✭✭Pro. F

Just put Di Maria on the left wing so he can cross the ball. I hate this inside out winger crap.
