Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He's made for the Premiership then.

Di Maria been slated by BBC. Dam right. He has been f**kin brutal today and people must be on drugs posting here saying he's played well.
Lineker said he gave the ball away 30something times.

Argentina are brutal, and they have one of the best teams at the tournament

I wonder if they'd perform better as a team without Messi. With everything set up to suit him, if he doesn't perform, Argentina don't. Di Maria, Aguero and Higuain are all quality players but you have to wonder if they're being sacrificed in this system.

Pity the Premiership no longer exists.

On Paper they do. Other than Messi, none of the other big stars have really shown up during the games. On top of that, they really don't seem to play well together.

Argentina might get a goal in extra time against the Swiss but i have my doubts about them getting to the Final.

Robbie Savage being a fool again.
If I was Messi I would be saying to the rest of them 'any chance you could pull your finger out'. Argentina have been shocking.

In fairness to Messi, he's trying but he's too static before the ball gets to him. Could do with tracking back a bit more to help out and win the ball.

I think thats a fair statement. Messi is carrying that team.

I'm glad I don't listen to Brady when placing bets. Argentina to win by 3. LOL :-)
I wonder if he asked Bill to write that one down too. :pac:

Swiss defence has been very solid today.

Shame he's not Messi. Then he wouldn't be doing bad punditry and we wouldn't have to listen to him.

It's true from an attacking POV. Argentina are a weird one though. Great players that just don't seem to know how to play together.

Can you imagine the crap he'd be getting on here if he played for Arsenal.

Awful from Shaqiri, really needed to hold the ball as long as possible there.

Higuain are all quality players but you have to wonder if they're being sacrificed in this system.

Higuain has done absolutely nothing at this World Cup. The only discernible system I can see is, they depend 100% on Messi. And if they discarded Messi? Well they wouldn't have even got out of their group.

There are upto 1 million Irish Argentines, but can't help but support the European team.

He was talking about it from an attacking POV so why is he a fool for saying it?

Di Maria gave the ball away 37 times in the 90 minutes according to the Beeb. Jaysus.

Fair enough. Perhaps my dislike of Mr. Savage got in the way there.

You're on your own there, they're are boring as bejaysus and have given us a fair bit of heartache in the past. Hope they get knocked the f*ck out quick.

The ref could CLEARLY see he was going to get in the way unless he moved. Shaqiri reaction was gas though. :pac:

Amazed Argentina didn't use their last sub before now, seems kind of stupid actually.

You could argue that the dependency on Messi is what's holding them back.

Ref should book Shaqiri for that. Disgusting, childish reaction from him.

On another note, brilliant marking from the referee. Absolutely fantastic.

Why is Di Maria shooting there. Man over and blasts it right at the Swiss player in front of him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭Zico

Yep, I'm convinced Di Maria is looking for a move to the Premiership.

This is looking fairly dodgy for Argentina now.. its looking like penalties. It's a lottery now unless many the little mystro can do something.

Pity the ref couldn't book players for not finding their own man 15 yards away.

    Might get a game then.:pac:

Accidents happen, especially after 100 minutes of running around in that heat. The reaction was so childish, fully deserved a booking.

Don't remember Behrami being this good when he played for West Ham a few years back

And I think most would contend, they wouldn't have a chance without him.

You'll need a few watching 15 minutes of this.

If Argentina get through this tie, it might give them a kick up the hole to perform better than they have.

Brady would 'hate' to see the Swiss go through for the sake of the competition. He never annoyed me as much as he has the past few weeks.

I dunno pal. Massive game and they were on the attack in a crucial game. Emotions are naturally gonna be high.

I can see the Swiss goalie being the hero in a shoot out if it gets to there.

From what I recall, he was played as a full back and sometimes winger at West Ham.
