anyone got any good links to scanner frequency lists for ireland,,the current websites are very outdated and most of the stuff on them are gone tetra or just gone.

the whole joy and purpose of scanning is to find new frequencies yourself. May I suggest Comreg spectrum allocation table as a good place to start? - http://www.comreg.ie/radio_spectrum/table_of_frequency_allocations.496.410.html

basically choose a source of comms you are interested in, look up their allocation and start scanning!

a rough guide -
Airports/ATC/Aircraft comms live on 118-137MHz,
Taxis - 68-87MHz,
On 163-174MHz you can find just about anything from Taxis to Hospital comms
Anything to do with coast guard, marine operations, ports - 156-163Mhz
Business radios, Dublin Bus, your local factory/warehouse - 410-430MHz
Also a very random mix and match of users, including your local authority services, short range comms can be found on 440-470
After 470MHz you won't be able to find anything interesting without devices that can decode the signal, as it's all digital from there on...

thanks lads,have been scanning for years but gave it a rest when the interesting stuff went,,frequencydb.com is fairly outdated now as are others,they have loads of obsolete stuff on them now.scanner technology has yet to catch up with the newer systems but that might never happen so its back to security,marine,air etc.

some of more decent scanners go down to about 25MHz, if yours does, keep an eye (or an ear) there as both Sp E and F2 ionospheric propagation can bring in lots of interesting overseas comms (although technically Sporadic E can happen any time, you will have most luck in daytime and summer only, same goes for ionospheric propagation with a slight difference, that during solar minimums propagation might not happen at all)
