I clicked in expecting another gloomy thread, pleasantly surprised by the so far outcome of this. :) We need more feel good threads like this here, the other stuff is too heavy reading and more often than not just puts everyone in a bad/gloomy mood. Anyone got a name for the duckling? :) Board's poll anyone? :D

Open to suggestions on a name, no idea if its a boy or girl. Maybe George? Works both ways.

How about Henry/Henrietta (not a hen) duck?

Daughter says Benjamin, there's a law apparently?!?

Tip don't ask teens questions close to midnight ;)

Ah man, this is the most life affirming thread I've ever read :)
There was another amazing one over on the Nature and Birdwatching forum a good few years ago ...

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=66597913

'Bob', as he was christened, turned out to be a goldfinch in the end, but he was really, really tiny when he was found.

Well, it'd have to be Lucky, wouldn't it?

    :)

I was going to suggest crossing 'Fattie' with 'Lucky' but no.....no that doesn't work out very well:eek:

I do like Lucky on its own though! Great to see a thread with a happy ending.

The duckling has been named Tony(I need to stop letting a 5 year old name pets!) Today,he decided that he could see a lot more if he sat on top of the hen instead of under her.

    Please call it Fat Tony.

Tony made the big move to an outside run today,he should be a lot happier now that he has a lot more space. For now,he doesnt really know what to make of all the open space around him,so he is sticking to within a few inches of the hen at all times. He has at least doubled in size since last week.

Tony got his first swim today, his mother was not impressed. He spent most of the day in there. The hen stood over him all the time clucking at him to try get him to follow her away from the water!

Does anyone have any idea/is there an indication of what kind of a duck this will grow into?
i know nothing of ducks, but he looks quite nice, will he? have to be kept as a pet now or can he? be returned or will he just return to the wild?

He'd never survive in the wild.

    He'd quack up!

    :pac:
