I wonder if Coultard will get a chance to say 'concertina effect' at some point during this race......

Embarrassing how much quicker the Mercs are than everything else, it's like a video game with mixed car categories.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,807 ✭✭✭CFlat

Come on Lewis hunt down Nico.

Jenson being sensible and letting Lewis past. Now we're in for a humdinger of a fight.

Wouldn't be a massive fan of Lewis but what a driver!

Lewis and Bottas are flying, anyone but Rosberg for the win

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭Peanut Butter Jelly

Bottas is a man on a mission. Nico is pulling away from Lewis ever so slightly now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭Peanut Butter Jelly

    Alonso the ultimate opportunist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,807 ✭✭✭CFlat

The Ferrari is looking very quick.

    YAHOO Alonso.

There's damage to the back of Maldonado's car. His rear wing is shaking a crazy amount.

Wow, Guttierez trying to get his own back at Maldonado for Bahrain.

    5 second stop/go for Nando.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Frankie Lee

That is incredibly harsh for gaining maybe 1/10th of a second at the start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,285 ✭✭✭✭Standard Toaster

Harsh. I mean did Alonso gain an advantage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Frankie Lee

Hamilton closing the gap now, Hamilton will take him at some stage, he is comfortably quicker.

He can serve it as part of a normal stop, they just can't touch the car for the first 5 seconds so it's not too bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,886 ✭✭✭_rebelkid

The penalty isn't for gaining an advantage, he was out of position. End of.

If there was no penalty then they would all do it.

Yea those penalities are not as harsh as they use to be.

    Alonso is on fire

Does the car need to come in though before a certain number of laps?

Charlie shouldn't have started the race then?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭Peanut Butter Jelly

Overtake of the race for Bottas there.

What a move by Bottas on Button.

No, he can take it when ever he comes in for his scheduled stop, it's not really a stop-go in the traditional sense, he will only lose 5 seconds from it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,262 ✭✭✭✭Autosport

Bottas is having a great race

No, he shouldn't have. But Alonso was out of position because of his own actions, so he still gets a penalty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭Peanut Butter Jelly

Charlie shouldn't have started the race then?

He was right to start it. He was 100+ metres away from Alonso so I's be surprised if he could 100% tell if he was out of position.

    Downshift issues for Rosberg.

Torque map change could fix it. I wouldn't read too much into it yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Frankie Lee

Hamilton wins on a 1 stop.

Could do. Rosberg hasn't lost any time because of it. Still holding at 15 odd seconds back.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭Peanut Butter Jelly

I doubt he will 1 stop. It's too slow and and 30 laps on the primes will let Rosberg fly by him. He's looking to shorten his time on the hard tyres.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭Peanut Butter Jelly

By my calculations, Hamilton will be about 3.5 seconds behind Rosberg when he comes out.
