Oh great. Now we will have to listen to how everything British is great. In fairness, Hamilton was due some good fortune his way.

I agree butdon't count your chickens yet. Don't forget that race where they both had the exact same problem at the exact same time.

Alonso with the new overtake of the race.

Rosbergs had gearbox issues all race. Nothing similar for Hamilton, yet anyway.

Yea you're right but I suppose my point was more like, don't open the champagne just yet.

Vettel and Alonso goin to be good for the rest of the race

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭Peanut Butter Jelly

And Vettel is already whining. There was nothing wrong with Alonso's move.

I don't think Button will be on the podium. He'll get close though.

    Delighted for Lewis and Williams.

0.8. Jenson was only 0.8 off a podium. Gutted.

    Up the Dubs!

Likely to be a Boardsie flying the Dublin flag at the podium?

Deadly, Championship battle back on! Delighted for Williams. Would have been fighting for victory only for qualy. Ricciardo solid as ever and a great battle for 4th. Only caught the last 20 laps, had to work, it looked a bit mad. Cant wait to watch the highlights later.

Did they give that out after?

Yeah. Santander paid a sh*tload of money to change the trophy, but the BRDC and the RAC wouldn't have left it go by without the Gold Trophy.

I don't think Williams could have fought for the win today, they were still a few secs a lap slower than the Mercs at full pelt

First time in 50 years that the Gold Trophy hasn't been presented on the podium. Huge backfire for Santander.

What a race, delighted for Lewis. Game on. Some stellar drives today by quite a few drivers, Botas was superb!

the red trophies looked pretty stupid

nice to see one or two donuts at the end

good result to even up the championship

hope lewis doesnt get a run of results now and get too far ahead of Rosberg, would be good if they can keep up with each other

Good call - seems to be overlooked by the Alonzo loving Vettel haters.

Let's not forget Alonzo was warned about going off track, surprised he wasn't penalised for continuing to do it.

Both were warned, were the not? Why the need to take sides, regardless of which driver you prefer it was brilliant to watch & I credit the two of them for providing a brilliant battle.

Fair point - but read the earlier posts, specific mention of Vettel wingeing, no mention of Alonzo doing the same.

You'll get fans on both sides I suppose, it's only natural. Amazing duel between the two today though, I would hope that by now those arguments that Vettel wasn't a good 'wheel to wheel racer' are well & truly dispelled by now. He's having a rough time at the mo though, I must admit I didn't expect Ricciardo to hit the ground running as he did.

If you are referring to me... whilst watching live, I listened to all of Vettel's whinging and there wasn't a peep out of Alonso. I then posted here. Immediately after I posted, they broadcasted Alonso's whinging. Had I got the chance to post a few minutes later it would have read...

"Great racing but I wish the 2 of them would shut up with the whinging and bitching"

Good race, Kimi looks to be a 50/50 for this weeks test, looked an awful smash.

Good racing throughout the field, Bottas was savage and one to watch. Alonso did a good job to, and gets extra points for making Vettel moan.

Glad the championship is back on as well, a retirement always whips things up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,206 ✭✭✭Zcott

Apparently Rosberg's gearbox was a bit older than Lewis's, hence the failing. Hopefully that won't happen again to either of them.

And Vettel gets extra points for passing Alonso, but the difference is these are real points...rather than imaginary ones. :)

I don't remember a driver being shown the black and white flag for their driving before.
Anyone know when the last one was?

I used to get them all the time in Formula 1 97 back in the day but that was more for driving like Maldonado.

F1 got away with it today. Kimi spinning across the track, quite easily could have been t boned by Massa and Chillton's car being hit by a stray tyre. Both must be high on the list of things drivers dread the most.
