People are fickle. First Loew gets criticized for the formation he plays, even though they make it to the quarters.

Now he makes changes to sort out some Issues from the previous game and to get the right formation against a good french team, and people say it's worrying he hasn't found his best formation yet.

He has 23 players, and the best formations always depends on the opponent. I would be worried if any coach would use the same starting 11 and same tactical formation against any opponent. Didn't van Gaal huge praise for way he sets up his dutch side very different from game to game by taking the opponent into consideration?

I like that formation, I think its the best team and it suits the sh1t or bust requirement for a knock out game. I read it as Germany will either go under or go through no farting around for 120 minutes.

They've missed him badly IMO. Noone has carried the ball like he could and a lot of pace lost too.

The Ref was the MOTM for the French in the last game, letting them off with 2 red cards and 2 penalties. So I'm rooting for the Germans and hopefully they won't have to play the Ref today. Although I won't be surprised at all if they have to.
