Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hulk should be played as the number 9, too instinctive a player to be playing from either wing.

    Fernandinho is an excellent player.

Well as expected, Brazil aren't doing a 'Germany' and shutting the game down. So a quick Colombia goal in the second half, could quickly change the nature of this game.

    Brazil way on top.
Should be all over at this stage

Bottling job by both the Ref and Colombia.

Especially Cuadrado. He's playing like he's concussed.

Rodriguez has been very nice the odd time he's got on the ball but the ref is ****ing him over completely.

Fernandinho should be off. Zuniga has had a few bad fouls as well.

The Brazilian press has been impressive but that's no excuse for Colombia's standard of play.

Probably not, but that is part of my point too. He gave the free so he cannot allow them run it down to 'level' things. He doesn't seem biased as much as spineless... for all the talk of the players nerves, it's this guy who has bottled it.

    And again!, unify.

    And again, Fernandinho again.

I can't dispute that Fernandinho definetly deserved to be booked

    Cuadrado touched it to Rodriguez.
They had every right to run at him.

Game has gone to sh*t because the ref has seemingly lost his yellow card.

    Home town ref.

2/3 Brazilians could be booked at this stage

This match is rigged, I firmly believe it. FIFA, indirectly or not, have put pressure on the ref not to intervene and practically every single Columbia attack is ending in a foul from Brazil. You only have to look at the free kick where Neymar ended 2 yards from the kicker to see something is very very wrong with the refereeing today (it was practically a repeat of Brazil v. Zaire in '74). And unfortunately it's working, Columbia have lost their cool and are starting to look reckless. Victory FIFA!

The referees are doing a great shift getting Brazil through. Granted they're playing better then Colombia but Fernandinho could have been sent off.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,292 ✭✭✭GreNoLi

Brazil playing to their strengths, Colombia aren't.

Referee has been poor for both sides but it is a very hard game to manage.

If Brazil go through, the up and atom approach won't fluster the Germans.

I can see a Colombian getting controversially sent off in the second half with this Home Town ref.

Totally agree. Columbia are ****ting themselves. They are showing the reason why most of them don't play for the top clubs. They have bottled it and this will be 3 or 4 to brazil

I never really understood why they do that? I mean striking a moving ball does give it somewhat of a different trajectory and the plus is that you can get a different angle that is away from the wall but the negatives far outweigh any (potential?) positives, and players should be good enough to be able to take good free kicks from that range.

I like the caption on RTE at half time. "Good Brazilian Pressure" with pictures of Fernandihno kicking the **** out of James.

To be fair, Zuniga got away with a studs up tackle on Hulk's knee as well.

It feels more like a ref not wanting to "ruin the occasion" sort of bottling job.

I can't remember the rules on indirect/direct free kicks but that would be one possibility.

I don't see how rolling it 6 inches gives enough of an angle if it was too central to begin with.

That's possible, the camera angles would have made that hard to see. Still reminded me of that lunatic Zaire defender though :pac:

Scolari has built this ugly, sterile, very un-Brazilian team. So it's no surprise he wants to out muscle opponents, rather than weave the kind of football we all expect from Brazil.
