Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am just wondering if these birds, visiting my garden in county Galway are either Swallows or House Martins?

    Thanks for looking.

That's a swallow. They have long tail streamers (deeply forked tail) and the entire head is dark.
HOuse martin's have weakly forked tails and a big white rump (above the tail; lower back) and are less common than swallows although both occur all over the country.

Thanks Desmo. Any idea where they nest in rural areas - is it still under roof eves etc?

Barns are a classic. Small ledges or beams out of reach of dogs and cats.
