Think the riders found the crowds very stressful today based on Twitter posts

Hopefully tomorrow people will stay off the road and keep children and dogs under control

Very narrow roads tomorrow and oodles of climbs

Hmm, looking at that Youtube video it looks more like Cav was pushing against Gerrans to get round Sagan.

Whats worse too is that it was bad timing as Sagan had just started acelerating up into 1st
place and had Cav just stayed behind Saggy he coulda slingshotted past him and
at worse ended up in a 1 on 1 with Kittel as he came up too.
Probably woulda won the feckin' thing!

I noticed that, but based on the coverage it didn't look too bad. I'm wondering if it's an organised PR push to get all the riders to tweet something to that effect. They have been running ads recently with the same message. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

So Cav admits he is at fault

Mark Cavendish on the crash: "It was my fault. I'll personally apologize to Simon Gerrans as soon as I get the chance." #TDF

If you get a flat within 3km of the finish on a flat stage you get the same time as the winner ???? but not any other stage , esp a mountain stage
    Strange

The 3km zone was put in place on flat stages to try and lessen the likelihood of big crashes. No chance of crashes near the end of a mountain stage, so no reason for it.

If a rider punctures within the 3km zone, then they are very lucky! (provided they were not planning on contesting for the stage win).

Dont worry some will still try to say he wasnt to blame.

Greg Lemond interviewed the Europcar rider (Bryan Coquard?) and he said Gerrans and Cavendish were pushing each other and he tried to go by them and caught Gerrans bars which caused the crash. Looks like they all want to take the blame.

At the end of the day we all know it was letape's fault for picking cav and gerrans in the fantasy team.

From the interview I saw he said it wasn't much to do with him as far as he was concerned.
I mean he was cycling in a straight line and Cav shoved Gerrans over into him and
    took Gerrans line. End of.

Decision to be made in morning. I presume they'll see how it settles and how he sleeps. Neither of which I can't imagine will be too good. Either way can't see him getting past the cobbles on Wednesday.

I agree with the crash rule within 3km ....but not the puncture as the puncture at 4 KM not taken into consideration nor a puncture on mountain/rouler stage
Its just my bug bear...not consistent or fair tbh

Today Talnsky got a puncture, and came in 4 minutes down
However riders came in before him and now have a deficit of 1.5 minutes ,etc
Maybe they got held up at 3.5 Km by crowd ?? or puncture or crash

I watched today's stage in Thresfield right in the Dales and then Ripon.

Photos each attached. What an experience to see the peleton and breakaway in full flight.

Heading to Harrogate for tomorrow before heading home.

Shame he's out but atleast we don't have to listen to excuses every time Kittel beat cav.

On that front you could say it's worse now as every time Kittel wins, those who feel like it can mention the absence of Cav as negating the value of those wins. Really does though diminish the dynamics of the sprints now a fair bit unfortunately - pity, only himself to blame & all that, but a lesser race in sprinting terms now definitely.

The green jersey now looks like being a straight fight between Sagan and Kittel.

Dislocated shoulder and ligament off the bone. Serious enough given his day job!

I doubt they'll be much of a fight. Sagan unstoppable on that competition

Yeah, I'd say it's a straight fight between Sagan and Sagan crashing out.
