Well Folks,

Looking for a decent jacket for messing about outside, hiking, camping etc. Any particular Army surplus ones to go for? Goretex would be nice.

Trying to avoid spending 200+ Euros if I can.

I use a soft-shell jacket. It's light, keeps the wind out, and protects from showers.

It's not great for extreme cold or wet, but it's good for general use.

Outdoor shops will have them for forty or fifty Euro, upwards.

I've got one of those, it's relatively useful alright. More looking for the waterproof elememt now

When the rain starts coming down, I have a hard-shell waterproof jacket. You'd get one of those for maybe €60/€70 upwards.

If it's a cold, I wear a fleece under it.
