As title says looking for couple eggs, for hatching soon.

Had hen sitting & close to her time the feckin magpies stole her eggs, she was then sitting on more eggs for hatching yesterday but they never hatched,

Now desperate to put something under her that will hatch soon, as she is broody a long time now, sorted magpie problem and just want to see her lay,

    any suggestions,

    Sunny south east,

I had the same problem last year and I asked a few people for eggs which were close to hatching. They thought I was nuts. As long as the person is close by, it shouldn't be a problem.

I can't help by the way.

Thanks, you made me laugh, I have done this a few times with young hens when they broke their eggs or for other reasons, picking up a couple of eggs tomorrow, fingers crossed,

Sometimes when I have eggs in the incubator which are close to hatching I stick them under a sitting hen just so she raises them. The timing has always worked out but I wonder what would happen if she was only sitting for a day and her eggs magically hatched? Would she just get on with it or reject them? I might try it sometime

My mom used to put one day old chicks bought in the market under sitting hen in the evening and in the morning the hen would happily play a role new mom ;)
