Shoes I can't help you with, but the museum is by the Spanish Arch near Jury's Hotel.

Several specialist museums in NUIG - some listed in here: http://www.galwaycafeguide.com/p/things-to-do-in-galway-city.html

Not sure of their opening hours though.

There is a shop in the Galway Shopping Centre (where Tesco is) that sells ladies shoes in size 10. Think Evan's might have some as well.
Overall Galway is pretty bad for tall women.

Internationally speaking, quite a lot of them - take a look at this list from Paris (top of my Google list): http://en.parisinfo.com/what-to-see-in-paris/info/guides/weekly-closing-days-of-cultural-sites-in-Paris

They're a bit like hairdressers, the staff need days off each week, and in a smaller shop a 7-day operation is sometimes just too hard to cover.

I work in a museum myself and there is a lot of 'docents' (trained volunteers) and interns....apparently is quite common in the U.S., solves staffing shortages...

Thing is that Galway Museum doesn't/didn't open on Sundays either.

It does now, their website says summer opening hours ... & Sunday, 12pm to 5pm.

I think they got some JobBridge slaves in for that.

(Marginally acceptable use of the programme IMHO, they're displacing what should be paid workers keeping a tourist facility open on a busy day, and likely doing basic customer service rather than any professionally-relevant curatorial work).

Museums closing Mondays is quite common.

Other than the city centre museums there is the horse museum www.dartfield.com, the computer museum computermuseumireland.com, Lady Gregory museum www.gortonline.com/gregorymuseum, the Military museum www.militaryheritage.ie/research/milmuseums/renmore/renmore.htm and the National Museum of Country Life www.museum.ie/en/intro/country-life.aspx

Some of those being in the "Extended Galway Area" (ie Mayo!) :D

I know someone who works at the Museum on Sundays who is paid (not Jobbridge).
