Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I know this is in interior design, but couldn't find anywhere for exterior.

We would like to get our house repainted on the outside. Half the front wall of house has grey stonework, it's a detached house and front and one side are visible from road, (hedge slow growing!!!).

What colours would best compliment the grey, at the moment we have it a light cream with bluey grey keystones. I would like a darker warmer colour but not sure what suits. The road wall is painted the same colour, but in winter months the wall gets dirty from tractors, truck etc, so a darker colour would help hide the dirt a bit. (I hope!!)

Would appreciate any ideas or websites, I checked a few but not what I am looking for. Thank you.

we are putting cobblelock with our grey stone - though were only plastering outside of house now so have no pics to show you but i spoke to a Dulux colour specialist and showed them pictures of the stone we like and we have black windows and she thought cobblelock would be lovely. and achill white on the reveals and antelope on the plinth.
if your done first would love to see some pics!

Fifib, i have just painted the wall at the front if my house cobblelock, withnthe capping in Antelope. You can hardly tell the difference between the two. I actually took a photo of it tonight and it looks identical in the photo, although in real light there is a slight difference. The colours are too close for me and i'm going to find something else instead. I'm going with cobblelock on the house and innifall on the plinth & around the frames and wanted the antelope for the sills, but not after doing the fence.

Thanks folks, the cobble lock looks good. Will get samples of the others to see. Hope to get it done within the next 3-4 weeks. Just finding it difficult with the grey stone, don't want to make a mistake in the colours I choose!!

wow thats crazy they look so different on the chart. what about the deep olivine? it was recommended to us also but I thought it would be too dark but maybe not now after hearing about the antelope

I'm not sure about the deep Olivine. I went back to the paint shop with a photo of the antelope and they said it wasn't right and possibly had a mislabeled tin. So i got a sample pot to compare it with. they also told me to paint another area and to do it exactly how I was planning (so paint a sill in antelope with the other trim colour and wall colour). I tried it on the wall and it was exactly the same (so right colour) and then tried it on the sills and hey presto, it looks darker. Unbelievable. I think it is because the front wall has all the light and space behind it, it looks a lot lighter. However it still has a pinky tinge to it that you don't pick up from the colour chart. So my advice is to get the colours you are thinking, and then paint them exactly where you want them - don't just do them on the wall next to each other. I think I'm still changing my mind though and am now going to go for a grey colour instead. Choosing paint colours is very stressful!!!!
