Some of the comments there on Reddit suggest you can't ever downgrade back to regular Gold from Ultimate too.

You can downgrade, you need to let you're sub lapse first though.

So what's the best thing to do if you're Gamespass is a about to expire and you don't have Live? I'm in the middle of one of those 3 month deals so don't have anything really to convert to €1 for the remainder of its term.

Stack some cheap subscriptions from CDKeys. That's what I did.

I can confirm this is not the case.
ive had game pass before and just upgraded 2 years of gold to ultimate for the €1 charge. Happy days.

It was confined to insiders in certain territories, of which Ireland wasn't included.

Ugh, I should have checked to make sure I still had an XBL subscription when I signed up for the deal. I only got 1 month, bought another year in the hopes of extending it but was offered only 4 months of Game Pass Ultimate.

In fairness, I haven't switched on my Xbox much in the past year thanks to Forza 7 & Horizon 4 being on PC.

You can cancel ultimate, apply your year of gold and then do the upgrade again I think.

Mine not up till 20/05/2021 I got 9 months free wtf.:) I just figure it out they add the gamepass with my xbox live pretty cool doh nice.none of will have buy halo infinite at launch if were getting xbox 2 at launch sweet save some money.

Can't get past the 'Verify your identity' screen online, even though the email address and phone number are valid - it never sends me the code to either. Will probably get a bunch of messages at 4am!
Anyone else the same?
