I dunno but Anton Savage just read it out on the Last Word, so presumably it's from a reliable source...

    No not at all.
Rté six one news Today was expertly and professionally produced and edited, and I hope it is seen around the World! then people will have a better idea of how the real Irish feel about this whole episode.... The disgust and shame of everyone on six one Today was clearly shown, and not one off them blamed GB for this fiasco, and why would they?

Six one news won't be seen around the world though
    It's not CNN

why all the excitement? he's still saying exactly the same thing, 5 or nothing.

Why is Garth Brooks writing to Peter Aiken when they were in the same room yesterday

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,681 ✭✭✭✭P_1

Is it not possible for him to play 5 shows over 3 days (do two matinees)?

People sending death threats to the chap who brought the injunction is pure scumbaggery though.

I'd find it very easy to tell 2 (Aitken/Brooks) conniving immoral chancers to FO. :)

    Absolutely unbelievable.

This just got a mention on the radio news here in Philadelphia. They just said that Garth Brooks said he did not want to disappoint any of the fans that had tickets, so he canceled all the shows instead of just two. They did not expand or editorialize on it, as the station is pure news.

It is the most ridiculous turn this story has taken yet. A clear attempt to subvert the laws of the country.

Which room was this? Aiken hasn't left Ireland.

Why couldn't he have said it like that instead of the original, asinine "they're like my children I'll kill them all" comment. I can see the logic in not wanting to turn away 160k people. Not his fault, those 160k people shouldn't have been sold something that wasn't likely to happen.

I'm not saying he's not a jerk for canceling on the other 3, but thats a much better way to think about it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,570 ✭✭✭RandomName2

Really should have played the 3 concerts and rearranged the last 2 for the end of the tour.

Surely it takes months to organise this sort of thing - indeed, organising this concert in January was apparently too late because the CC only gave it's judgement last week.

Don't entirely buy the fouth night thing. IF they were going to give him a fourth night there'd be no reason whatsoever not to give a fifth - probably the usual messing around of "we'll firm it up when ya get here".

Still trying to work out why people have some personal animosity against Brooks. The same people were against all five concerts going ahead, so they should be happier then that none are going ahead. Saying that you think it's great that he can't do all of them but he's an arsehole for cancelling the 60% that he's left with makes no sense.

What kind of twisted logic is that though?

    It's Brooks v Ireland.

    He'll get his way. ;)

Just bully the Irish, that should do it.
