Then new legislation would come in so that this doesn't happen anymore?

It'll be a once-off for Mr Brooks, a once-off for the new shopping centre, a once-off for the new town in West Dublin and no developer will dare go for planning permission without making sure enough politicians are paid to ensure that their "once off" goes ahead.

We've spent a fortune on planning tribunals, and the same people who would be spitting with outrage on Joe Duffy now want us to put aside our planning rules again. We never learn.

No, Fianna Fail did it all the time in the 90s. Cost is a small fortune in social issues and tribunal costs.
